MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR Prof. Madan M Sarma Vice Chancellor PLACEMENT BROCHURE 1

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN Prof. Chandana Goswami Dean School of Management Sciences I take this opportunity to welcome all recruiters to Tezpur University campus. I present to you the batch of 2016-18. These students have not only been trained in their respective specializations, but also allowed to take up courses beyond the MBA curriculum (Choice Based Credit System). This we believe helps them in avoiding tunnel vision. An exposure to foreign language course and yoga also helps in widening their horizon. Select students have also had advantage of a foreign trip. Our students take part in extra-curricular activities and win laurels for the department. Organizing events in the department has led to enhancement of organizing skills. We are particular about instilling a sense of ethics in our students. Soft skill development is an ongoing process happening via presentations, report writing, event management and insistence on a formal dress code. I take pride in my colleagues, the faculty of the Department of Business Administration, who take all the pains to impart knowledge as well as skill to the students. They are involved not only in teaching but also in research and consultancy work. You are invited to browse through our departmental website to have a glimpse of the kind of work that is being carried out. Our faculties have both national and international exposure via attending conferences/seminars, attending workshops/orientation/refresher programs, as invited faculty to other institutions, as external examiners of PhD defense, being part of NAAC visits, by availing international fellowships etc. Very few management departments/institutions in the country have this unique strength of having a large group of core faculty with PhD qualification, and most having industry experience. This is supplemented by guest lectures from industry as well as academia. We also conduct corporate trainings on as well as off campus. Our learning and experience in such activities gets transferred to our students. Our students are amiable and have the right attitude. We have equipped them with the theoretical concepts and with your guidance they will do justice in your workplace. We look forward to a long sustaining and meaningful relationship with your organization. (Chandana Goswami) PLACEMENT BROCHURE 2

MESSAGE FROM THE HOD Prof. Papori Baruah HOD Dept. of Business Administration I am greatly pleased to present the final batch of students of MBA and MTTM programmes, who are ready to plunge into the corporate world equipped with the upto-date knowledge and skills. The Department of Business administration takes pride to belong to a university which ranked 34 within Generation Y universities of the world according to Times Higher Education ranking. The Department takes pride in reflecting a vibrant culture. It takes every care to mould each student for future responsibilities under able mentors. Apart from imparting the right kind of knowledge, efforts are taken to groom them by imbibing in them the right kind of values and entrusting them different responsibilities so that they pick up the team working, leadership, planning, organizing, financial management, event management skills etc. The students are taught to take care of organizational assets and the environment. The emphasis is on building excellence and quality. Apart from availability of highly qualified and experienced permanent faculty who are trained with the latest knowledge, the students get opportunities to learn and interact with a number of visiting faculties from reputed academic institutions all over the country and the industry. Students have also been supported for gaining both national and international exposure though visits. Efforts are also given to bring holistic development in the students by encouraging them to take up regular extracurricular and social work activities. The Department regularly updates its syllabi with inputs from the industry. The curriculum is adequate with a mix of theoretical and practical/skill based components. The teaching pedagogy adopts a participative approach under a complete ICT environment. I take the pleasure in inviting the recruiters to our campus. I am sure you will not be disappointed. With best wishes, (Papori Baruah) PLACEMENT BROCHURE 3

Students Speak I have been away from studies for quite a while due to professional commitments. The Tezpur University MBA programme has indeed absorbed me and equipped me with the much needed knowledge for a sustainable career growth by bridging the skill gap. With a perfect blend of Theory, practicals and field-assignments, the MBA programme is one of the best one could look out for. Being from the industry myself, I observe that the culture followed by us, the students of the Department is so identical to a corporate setup. The international excursion to Singapore, was indeed a great exposure for us. Thus the Department of Business Administration have helped me realize my potential. Sibasish Bora, MBA, 3 rd Sem The MBA programme was me reconnecting with a schedule of studies after quite some time. It was definitely a challenge and it sure made me work for each and every little bit to make myself worthy for it. The life that I have lived here has been unlike anything I have experienced yet. The workload including classes, assignments, presentations, seminars and activities have contributed greatly towards instilling a corporate culture in our beings. I hope and look forward to this becoming a reality in the times to come, absolutely sooner, rather than later. Parikhsheet Raj Hasda, MBA, 3 rd Sem Life here has been a delightful experience with a perfect blend of workshops, seminars, events and guest lectures topped with excellent pedagogy powered by an equally enthusiastic and passionate team of faculties. One is completely transformed into a corporate ready professional after spending two years in the Department. Apart from the rigorous yet exciting program, one also gets a unique experience of living with a diverse set of people from various other departments of the university which enriches each one of us and makes us a complete individual. Abhishek Kumar Barua, MBA, 3 rd Sem MTTM is not only about learning ethical tourism but also about finding yourself, the best in you. The best part of the program is exploring new places and meeting new people. As you travel, you are driven out of the illusion that you live in, you realize you are not always wrong and the fact that you have a bigger role to play in making this planet a better place to live in.
