ED Visa/ Education Visa/ Student Visa AVAILABLE For Thai Language for Foreigner Year 2014 The Educational and Vocational Development Institute of the YMCA of Chiangmai which known as the YMCA Language School can now provide a Non-Immigrant ED Visa/ Education Visa/ Student Visa for our students who enroll in our 1 year program of studying Thai Language for Foreigner You should plan and contact us in person or send all documents required to the school at least 4-6 weeks before you come to Thailand. The school will request a letter of acceptance from the Ministry of Education in Thailand; it takes about 2-4 weeks to get the letter. After that the school will give you or send it to you as applicable, and then you apply for an ED visa at a Thai Consulate office in your own country or at the nearest one to you country.
ED Visa Process: A. Students who are outside Thailand Step School Student 1. Download all application forms. Fill in and sign all application documents with a bluepen. 1. School application 2. Personal history check (2 pages) 3. Purpose of attending of the course Download * (* See ED Visa Forms ) 2. Mail (EMS) all documents to the school and the following items: 1. 3 copies of your passport (page-show your photo and number, and every page with showing record with your signature) 2. 8 photos (size 2 or 4x6 cm) polite attire with white background taken no later than 6 months 3. Transfer the registration fee to the school. Note: Middle East and African people need a Police check certificate to the school. It is a requirement of the Government. 3. Apply your document to the Ministry of Education (it takes about 2-4 weeks). When we get a letter of acceptance from the MOE. (the 1st letter), we will send it with the school letter to you via DHL or FedEx. 4. 5. Apply for an ED visa at the Thai Consulate or Thai Embassy in your home country or the nearest country. When you arrive in Thailand, you must bring your passport to the school in order to process for a letter of extension visa from MOE (the 2nd letter).

Purpose of attending of the course Download * (* See ED Visa Forms ) Note: -at least one month remaining on your existing visa -fill and sign all papers with a blue-pen -give 3 photocopies of your passport (page-show your photo and number, and every page with showing record with your signature) -8 ID photos (size 2 or 4x6 cm) polite attire with white background taken no later than 6 months -pay/ transfer the registration fee to the school -Middle East and African people need a Police check certificate to the school. It is a requirement of the Government. 2. Apply your document to the Ministry of Education (it takes about 2-4 weeks). When we get a letter of acceptance from the MOE. Information about Apply visa and Immigration: The typical countries to apply an ED visa for Thailand are Laos (Vientiane City), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur City, Penang) and Singapore. Students from China, Japan, Indian, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Middle Eastern countries need to return to their country to receive an ED visa from their local Thai Embassy or Consulate. Visa processing will take a minimum of 2-3 working day and Thai Embassies and Consulates are open Monday-Friday and close during holidays. Applying an ED visa fee at the Thai embassy/consulate is 2,000 Thai Baht On arrival to Thailand, you will be permitted to stay for 90 days. With the 2nd letter and the school paperwork you can extend your stay every 90 days at the Bangkok Immigration Office until you complete the entire duration of the study period (maximum 3 years). The fee is 1,900 Baht each time. The 90 Days Notification. Every foreigner needs to notify the Immigration Office every 90 days and tell his/her current address. You can go from 7 days before the date. If you miss the date, you will have to pay a fine.

Terms and Conditions: - The School can only process an ED visa for who apply to study at YMCA Language School. - 80% of class attendance record is required to maintain a student status of an ED visa with our school. - Fees are non-refundable. Only tuition fee will be refunded except administration fee of 3,000 THB and EMS/ Courier fee if the application form is rejected by the Ministry of Education. - All currencies transferred must cover registration fee is in Thai Baht. - Cancellation of ongoing course, no refund will be given. - Cancellation the course after the visa has been obtained, no refund will be given. - Lessons are not transferable to other students. - At least 4 students required to run a group class level. - A student will lose lessons if absent from a group class and refund will not be given. For private class, giving notice 48 hours in advance could be postponed with class compensation. Postpone class can be done only 2 times for one level. - Minimum private class of 160 hours for ED visa registration. Our course: Our professional Thai Language teachers have designed our Thai language course to be realistic, informative, fun and at a reasonable pace to suit all abilities. They focus on real life situations and conversations that you probably may encounter whilst you are in Thailand. ED visa is available for students who register full time of standard group class for 240 hours/ year or private class for minimum 160 hours/ year. Class information: Standard Thai Class (Speaking and Listening) We offer 8 language levels. Levels 1 to 4 introduce students to practical vocabulary and conversation for everyday life. The Higher levels focus on challenging and typical Thai phrases, idioms, slang and expression used in advertisements and entertainment context as well as discussions on interesting social, economic and political topics. These classes are extremely successful and our students who can speak conversational Thai or better readily state that it has greatly improved their quality of life and has enhanced their experience of being in Thailand. Thai Script Class (Reading and Writing) Our class has been designed specifically to provide an introduction to reading and writing of the Thai language. Undergone Standard Thai Level 3 is required before enrollment. These class levels are designed for people who want to learn the basics and principles of Thai script. In our classes you will be taught various techniques that will enable you to convert spoken Thai into Thai written text and Thai written text into Thai spoken language. Elementary Thai Class Student needs to have skill in speaking, reading and writing some Thai in order to improve more fluent and accurate using Thai language. Undergone Standard Thai and Thai Script are required before enrollment. Text book will be all in Thai language. You will be taught Thai language structure and standard of using Thai language. This is appropriate for whom to prepare for further taking Thai language proficiency examination for Primary 6. Situational Practice in Thai Culture Students will be encouraged to use Thai language in 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing on different situational lessons. They are onsite and offsite lessons in order that students would learn to use all skills in different occasions of Thai culture. Private Class Student will take Standard Thai, Thai Script, Elementary Thai or Situational Practice in Thai Culture class by arranging their own time duration to cover 20 hours/ a level as wished. However 6 hours a week are required. Student with no education on Thai language is recommended to start from Standard Thai Level 1. Student with some knowledge of Thai language needs to discuss with our staff before selecting an appropriate class and level or consult schedule. For 20-hour class is operated only on M.W.F.
