The overarching goal is developing students with disciplined minds to lead and serve in a technology-based global society. The mission of Morehouse College is to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service. A private historically black liberal arts college for men, Morehouse realizes this mission by emphasizing the intellectual and character development of its students. In addition, the College assumes special responsibility for teaching the history and culture of black people. Founded in 1867 and located in Atlanta, Georgia, Morehouse is an academic community dedicated to teaching, scholarship, and service, and the continuing search for truth as a liberating force. Who Should Apply? Male students completing their sophomore or junior year of high school by June 2014. Male students completing their senior year in high school who have applied for admission to Morehouse College for Fall 2014. Male students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at the time application is received. Male students with a leadership consciousness who are self-disciplined and have an interest in multi-national business operations, sales and marketing or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The Selection Process This exciting, experiential program is limited to 20 students. A committee comprised of Morehouse College faculty and administrators will review all applications and select 20 students for the 2014 summer program. Attendance Policy The program begins on Saturday, June 21st at 1 p.m. and concludes on Friday, June 27th at 5:30 p.m. All formal program sessions will be held between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. daily. To ensure the continuity and quality of all sessions, students are required to attend the entire seven-day program. No other plans or commitments should be made for this week. Students with other commitments should not apply for the program. Sorry, no exceptions. Where Will You Live? All student s are required to live on Campus in the residence halls. The Office of Housing & Residential Life (OHRL) a Morehouse College has established a new foundation that has strengthened our commitment in developing a safe and inclusive residential community. Program Fee The nonrefundable program fee is $500.00. The fee includes meals, housing and all materials. The program fee is due April 28, 2014 (after applicants are notified of acceptance into the program). Payment is required in the form of a cashier s check or money order. Notification of Status A notification of status letter will be mailed to all applicants no later than Friday, March 28, 2014. Students who are selected for the program must submit their program fee ($500) by the deadline in order to guarantee their space. Please note that all applicants selected for the program are also required to submit the following forms: Statement of Intent Health Record; Authorization for Medical Treatment; Acknowledgment of Policies and Procedures; and Waiver, Release and Indemnification. These forms will be included with the selected applicants notification of status packet. The statement of intent must be returned with the program fee by Monday, April 28, 2014.
