2015/2016 ~ SCHOOL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ~ NEW FAMILY DINNER August 20, 2015 All new families to St. Gregory School are invited to a private home for a welcome dinner. Volunteers are requested to help greet, deliver food, set- up and cleanup. Contact: Hospitality; Suzanne Lertora or Debra Ferreira @ sgshospitality@gmail.com OPENING DAY August 23, 2015 All families are welcome to come and drop- off school supplies, pay class funds, sign up for class and school events. The Parents Association hosts this event and their goal is to take care of many of the household items normally slated for the first day of school and Back To School Night. Then, teachers will have more time to focus on academic instructional presentations and answer parent questions at Back To School Night. Volunteer opportunities include set- up; cleanup. Delicious crab and pasta dinner, dancing and raffle served by the 8 th graders, faculty and volunteers. Volunteer opportunities may include marketing/communications, decorations, set- up, food preparation, serving, raffle and drink ticket sales and cleanup. This is an adult only event. SPRING FUNDRAISER April 8, 2016 (Friday) Held in the spring this event typically includes dinner, entertainment, raffle and auction to raise money for a specific purpose. Help with planning, marketing, decorations, raffle, donation solicitations, and set- up/cleanup. All are welcome to submit ideas for an auction! SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD This advisory board has representatives from all segments of the school and parish community. Any St. Gregory parishioner or parent, 21 years of age or older, who has a positive attitude toward the philosophy of Catholic education shall be eligible to become a member of the Advisory Board. Members of the Advisory Board include elected members with the Pastor, Principal and Parent s Association Chairperson as ex officio members. The School Advisory Board meets each month. All parents are invited to attend board meetings. Contact: School Board @ office@stgregs- sanmateo.org PARENTS ASSOCIATION BOARD Be a part of the Parents Association (PA) and help support and enhance the lives of school students, families and staff through community building, volunteering and fundraising. The PA selects new members in the spring. EVENT MARKETING Support committee heads by creating and posting on- site signage to advertise and promote school activities. Graphic designers and those with printing connections particularly needed! Help on an as- needed basis with set- up, cleanup or food/beverage donations. Morning and evening opportunities are available. Contact: Suzanne Lertora or Debra Ferreira @ sgshospitality@gmail.com ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR (RPC) Two parents work together to recruit classroom parents and organize communications to all class leads. These two individuals will prepare the incoming Room Parents with all materials and information about how to be a successful Room Parent. Room Parent Coordinators are selected in the spring. Contact: Lorraine Felix @ rainyben80@hotmail.com ROOM PARENT (Class) Three to four parents are asked to lend a helping hand in their child s classroom. You ll meet with your teacher to review the class calendar and schedule volunteers for a variety of events. You ll also communicate (in coordination with the teacher) reminders and announcements. No prior experience necessary! RPC will train. Room Parents are selected in the spring for the following year. A note in the Wednesday Weekly will announce. May also include helping prepare class donations for fundraisers. LIBRARY Kinder- 4 th attend weekly library sessions. You can assist with your child s class visit to the library. Can be done weekly or monthly. Read to students and check in/out library books. Help keep the library in working order! At- home work to update the book inventory online open to ALL families. Contact: Your Class Room Parent ART PROGRAM Enhance students love of the arts! Assist during classroom lessons by helping prep materials OR help display art projects in community stores and libraries on your own time. Share your passion for a sport by coaching or assisting for volleyball, basketball, baseball or track (5 th - 8 Th ). Training available for first- time coaches! For every day you work, you also receive a LunchMaster credit. Please, no cell- phone use during Yard Duty. The School Uniform Exchange is available FREE of charge to all SGS families. Drop off gently used uniform items and pick up new (to you) items. Occurs a few times a year. General and specialty services are always welcome! Use your talents to gain your hours!
