CALL TO ORDER 2. ROLL CALL 3. STATEMENT On December 15, 2011, this body by resolution adopted the schedule for this meeting. The time, date and location of this meeting were accurately set forth therein. On December 27, 2011, this notice was provided to all schools, all PTO Presidents, the BHEA President and posted at the Administration Building. On the same date a copy was emailed to the Public Library, the Independent Press, the Courier News and filed with the Municipal Clerk to file and post at Town Hall. The meeting was also announced on the District Sign at Columbia School. 4. ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION WHEREAS, the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A.10:4-1 et seq.) expressly provide that a public body may move into Executive Session and exclude the public from that portion of a meeting at which the public body discusses any of the nine areas set forth in N.J.S.A.10:4-12b; and WHEREAS, the Berkeley Heights Board of Education has determined it necessary to move into Executive Session to discuss the following subjects, all of which are included in the aforesaid exceptions: Personnel: Appointments, Salary Adjustments. Legal: Solar, OFAC. Negotiations. Student Matters. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Berkeley Heights Board of Education that it does hereby move into Executive Session pursuant to N.J.S.A.10:4-12b to discuss the aforesaid matters; and IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the aforesaid discussions shall be made public either at the Public Meeting following said Executive Session or at such time as any litigated or personnel matters are concluded; or upon conclusion of any negotiations or related discussions; or as otherwise specified; and IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall take effect pursuant to law. APPROVE PROFESSIONAL DAYS/TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve professional development days and travel reimbursement for district staff members, as indicated on Attachment A. B. APPROVE SUBMISSION OF QSAC STATEMENT OF ASSURANCE It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the submission of the QSAC Statement of Assurance for School Year 2011-2012 to the New Jersey Department of Education (Attachment B). APPROVE REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the report of the Superintendent regarding all acts of harassment, intimidation and bullying in the Berkeley Heights Public Schools that were reported during the period of October 20, 2011, through December 15, 2011. 15. EDUCATION Item A: All Board members. A. APPROVE STUDENT FIELD TRIPS It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve participation of district students and staff members in educational field trips as listed on Attachment C. 16. PERSONNEL Items A-F: All Board members. Items G-H: Berkeley Heights only. A. SUBSTITUTE/SUPPLEMENTAL PERSONNEL It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the employment of the substitute/supplemental personnel listed below for the 2011-2012 school year: Teachers/Teacher Aides Buchan, Dawn Summit, NJ Home Instructor Lyness, Lorraine Mountain Lakes, NJ Cain, Jessica Westfield, NJ Derdzikowski, Ashley Berkeley Heights, NJ Gray, Jordan Berkeley Heights, NJ Morris, Diane Summit, NJ Sommo, Nicholas New Providence, NJ Sullivan, Janine Cranford, NJ Page 3 of 7

APPROVE EMPLOYMENT OF MAINTENANCE/GROUNDSKEEPER It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the employment of the following Maintenance/Groundskeeper in the Berkeley Heights Public Schools for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, effective January 17, 2012, through June 30, 2012: Annual Name Salary Christopher Whyte $36,159.00 (Step 1 on the 2011-2012 BHEA (prorated Custodian, Maintenance & 1/17/2012- Transportation Personnel Salary Guide) 6/30/2012) Explanatory Note: Mr. Whyte is being recommended to replace a staff member who is being recommended for transfer to another school in the district. Mr. Whyte served as a student custodian in Berkeley Heights for one year and has been employed as a substitute maintenance staff member in the district since July 1, 2011. F. APPROVE REVISED EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the revised employment contract for the following Bus Driver for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, effective January 6, 2012, as indicated: Original 2011-2012 Revised 2011-2012 Employment Time Employment Time Name and Salary and Salary Frank Mirabella 36.5 hours per week 40 hours per week $17.45 per hour $17.45 per hour Explanatory Note: These additional hours of employment are needed due to the recent transfer of the District Transportation Coordinator. APPROVE EMPLOYMENT OF HELP PERSONNEL It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the employment of the following individuals in the Help Every Learner Program (HELP) during the 2011-2012 school year, effective January 2, 2012, through June 30, 2012: HELP Teachers at $23.00 per hour Janel Bodner (McMillin ECC) 26.25 hours per week. Samantha Tinkham (Mountain Park) 12 hours per week (plus 6.0 hours per week as Lunchroom Supervisor @ $11.35 per hour). Explanatory Note: Ms. Bodner has been recommended to replace a former staff member who has resigned. Ms. Tinkham has been recommended to replace a staff member who was re-assigned to a full-time Teacher position. H. APPROVE SALARY ADJUSTMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH It is recommended by the Superintendent of Schools that the Board approve the salary adjustment listed below for the 2011-2012 school year based on the professional growth of the employee, effective February 1, 2012: Michelle Stapperfenne: For completion of the Master s Degree, she will go from step 6a, $54,118, to step 6c, $60,623. 17. BUSINESS Item A-C: All Board Members. A. APPROVE USE OF FACILITIES FEE SCHEDULE It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the updated Use of Facilities Fee Schedule as listed on Attachment D. B. ACCEPT DONATION It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the donation of approximately $21,000.00 in teacher grants from the Berkeley Heights Education Foundation. C. ACCEPT DONATION It is recommended that the Board of Education accept an anonymous donation of a weight lifting bench valued at approximately $125.00 to be used by the Governor Livingston athletic department. 18.
