The Technology Education Club allows students to apply principles of Physics and Engineering to build an electric car. This year students will be making modifications to a car built during the 2013-2014 school year and build a new electric car. Meetings will begin in November. National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) / The NTHS is a service organization for outstanding students in the area of career and technology education (CTE). Students are selected from the CTE departments, School to Career, Business Education, JROTC, Technical Education, and our Criminal Justice program based on their grade point average and teacher recommendations. The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish language and to promote a continuing interest in Spanish studies. Each year, we are issued a new challenge. We must read and interpret the game manual in order to design a robot which can most effectively meet the challenge. After solving these problems you will compete with other high schools to determine the best design. APPlied Club Sponsor: Mr. Patterson Meeting Time & Location: Tuesdays, 2:30-4:00, Room 11 The APPlied Club has been created to bring artists, writers, programmers, actors and musicians together to create interactive game media. Students will learn the process of designing video games, mobile apps, and other software through a team-based, iterative, problem solving approach. Bayhawk Student Council (BSC) Sponsor : Ms. Peterkin & Mr. D Achino Meeting Dates According to Calendar The Student Council links administration with the student body. It is led by a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. The BSC is comprised of an Executive Board and Homeroom Representatives. We sponsor Homecoming events such as; pep rally, spirit week, parade, and dance. In addition, we also host an annual Talent Show in the winter and Spring Fair in May. GEM School Coordinator : Ms. Ray and Ms. Dougherty Meeting Time & Location: Two times a month on Tuesdays, Library Girls Empowerment Mission is a program to empower girls who attend CHS by providing them opportunities and growth experiences that will enable them to become independent, selfsufficient and confident young women. GEM meets twice per month and takes 6 overnight retreats each year. This unique program, based only at CHS, is designed to assist collegebound, motivated young ladies with potential to be the best they can be. There is a rigorous application and selection process, and each year, a new group is selected from the current ninth graders, and, once selected, girls remain in the program throughout high school. Model UN Sponsor: Ms. Slone In a partnership with Towson University, tenth graders in AP World History will participate in a Model United Nation program where each student will research and represent an assigned country at the conference. In addition, students will learn to write, and present global resolutions and position papers.
