ALL SAINTS SCHOOL Phone 5463 1322 Fax 5463 2597 REFLECTION 7 September 2016 Email pboonah@bne.catholic.edu.au Web www.allsaintsboonah.qld.edu.au Father s Day Here s hoping that all our fathers enjoyed their day on Sunday and especially appreciated the gifts purchased at the Father s Day stall. It was just wonderful to see and hear the children explaining their reasons for purchasing a particular gift for a dad, grandfather or other significant male in their family. A special thanks to the parents who worked tirelessly and patiently on the stall so that each student could make their purchases. PRINCIPAL S REPORT Well, the school is a little quieter this week with so many students and staff in Canberra, but for those here, our usual routine of lessons continues. Thank you very much to the staff who have been so flexible in covering extra duties and ensuring that the days are running as smoothly as possible. St Teresa This week Pope Francis announced that Mother Teresa from Calcutta has been declared a saint. Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, devoted her life to helping India's poor. Pope Francis delivered the formula for the canonization of the Albanianborn nun known as the saint of the gutters just 19 years after her death. Pope Francis said that despite her official recognition as St Teresa, most people around the world will still refer to her as Mother Teresa. It is significant to note that during her lifetime Mother Teresa was awarded 124 international civil awards including the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of the humanitarian work she and her Sisters performed on the poorest of the poor and most unloved of humanity. Canberra Trip From all reports received, the Canberra contingent is thoroughly enjoying their visit to the nation s capital. A highlight for many was the plane trip which I m sure will only be surpassed by their trip to the snow.
