Yesterday our leaders attended the Statewide Young Leaders Conference with Mrs. Sewell. The students listened to guest speakers and attended workshops which motivated them to lead themselves and others well. We look forward to hearing about their day and inspiring all our 5/6 students as Chelsea Primary Leaders. MANIFESTO MAGIC! Last Friday s assembly showcased our Prep and Year 1/2 Manifestos. What a wonderful reflection of our school values. Congratulations to all our Junior classes and teachers for their enthusiastic and very entertaining presentations. On Friday 11 th March at 2.45 pm our Year 3/4 and 5/6 students will present their Manifestos at assembly. Many behind the scenes and secret preparations are happening. Can t wait to see our senior students reflections of their great teaching and learning. Jan Smith Assistant Principal Over the last two weeks we have received 359 books from parents, carers and friends that have benefited students across all grades. On behalf of the Literacy Leaders, thank you all for your generous donations.

We look forward to seeing you - please sign in at the Office first. Safety first please ensure that your child has a properly fitted helmet when riding a scooter or bike to and from school to keep them safe! Lost and found a pink scooter with an almost brand new helmet were left in the bike shed last Friday. If it belongs to you please come to the Office. All students will be registered by us, however if you wish your child s name to be on the Premier s Honour Roll and to receive a certificate, then we must have the completed consent form returned to us. Our goal is to have all children complete this year s challenge! We will advise you as soon as it has started. Please keep encouraging your child to read every day. Harmony Day is celebrated in March every year with schools across the country organising events that celebrate the cohesive and inclusive nature of Australians. It s a day where activities and celebrations help students to understand how Australians of different backgrounds live together. It provides a great opportunity for students to learn that not only do they share common ground with other cultures, but also that our differences make Australia a special place to live. We will be celebrating Harmony Day on the Tuesday the 22 nd of March. Throughout the day the students will be involved in a range of activities to promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. We encourage all students to dress in Harmony Day orange or a costume from another culture. Easy options include sarongs, Mexican hats and ponchos, karate gear, kimonos or even colours of your family s heritage flag.

MIXED BASKETBALL TEAM SPORTS REPORTS V CARRUM (A) We played basketball against Carrum Primary today. We were all pumped up and ready to go. We tasted the sweet smell of success today with a 26 to 12 win. Matilda was definitely our stand our player. We had a great time and can t wait until we play Edithvale next week. Charlotte Borkowski BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM Today was definitely the most exhilarating game of basketball possibly ever in the history of basketball games. Carrum got off to a quick start and scored 9 points. We struggled our way through the first half with little success. We couldn t seem to get the ball into the hoop no matter what we tried. After a quick pep talk at half time we were back and we brought our A game. We slowly clawed our way back and in the dying moments Kolb scored a point to make the scores equal and then I got the final goal right before the siren making us the winners. The final score was 25 to 23. Thanks to Megan, Kyan s mum, for scoring and timing. By Luke Crowder VOLLEYBALL A Today was our second time playing ISS this year, we played against Carrum Primary School. The volleyballers were in two teams, we each took our positions on the court. We started with a practise round, and then we started the game. We lost the first game and then got ourselves into a huddled up. We put all of our hands in and said, GO CHELSEA. We then went on to win the next game. The most improved player was Abby and everyone tried their best. We had such a great time. Scarlett Kishere VOLLEYBALL B Our volleyball game against Carrum was really challenging. They won one game and we one game. In a tie breaker finish they beat us. Our best player was Seth who displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the game. Sasha Nguyen CRICKET We all had a great day playing cricket, in the experienced team we played Carrum Primary School. I think we all had an outstanding game and I also think Tim and Billy were the best on ground. Maya was the most improved today and we all had fun and had an exquisite time.
