PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE Dear Seniors and Parents, The start of the second semester of the 2017-2018 means the Class of 2018 is near the end of their four years at Selma High School. This last semester is critical for all seniors as they look to meet all the graduation requirements for their diploma and additional attendance requirement needed to participate in our annual graduation ceremony to be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Staley Stadium. This handbook is an important tool for both parents and seniors as it contains all of the information needed to make the end of the school year a success. Please note important dates and deadlines with your senior student so that all deadlines are met. A full list of contacts for Selma High School administration is listed in the handbook, so please call us with any questions you might have about dates and deadlines. All parents and seniors are reminded that participation in the graduation ceremony is a privilege for all seniors. In addition to meeting all of the graduation requirements for Selma High School, your senior must also meet the four year attendance requirement to participate in the graduation ceremony. Review this attendance policy and other requirements listed so that your senior is on track for participation in the graduation ceremony and on track for his/her diploma from Selma High School. Every student achieving high expectations remains the mission of Selma High School. Congratulations to the Class of 2018. Sincerely, Mark Babiarz, Principal Selma High School 1

SCHOOL BOARD POLICY Con t Attendance Requirements for Participation in the Commencement Exercises Students may not miss more than 40 days (240 periods) of school over four years, excluding absences verified in writing by a licensed medical provider and school-related activities approved by site administration. Students may make up absences that exceed the numbers designated above by attending unassigned Saturday School sessions.
