KIDMAN CELEBRATES 2017 Don t Sit Under the Apple Tree Newton was a clever boy Science he did enjoy He questioned many things he saw. that there were no answers for. He thought them through right to their core. Then gave us many handy laws. One autumn day he did not foresee as he sat under an apple tree until an apple fell nearby confused and astounded he wondered why the apple fell onto the ground he could not get his head around and so a book on philosophy he read until the next apple fell on his head Kidman Celebrates returns in 2017 with a bold new format that will take our audience on a journey with Newton and his adventures. Information about Kidman Celebrates 2017 is attached with this update and has also been sent home with students (the oldest) today. - 7:00 8:45pm Wednesday December 13 th - Christian Family Centre 185 Frederick Road, Seaton - Tickets go on sale this Monday (full details attached) - We will sell out so please book early - All students will be a part of the ending of this performance. Therefore we hope that all students will be able to stay until the end - All classes will attend one rehearsal at the Christian Family Centre on either Tuesday December 12 th or Wednesday December 13 th - Please return the permission slip by Monday December 4 th - A DVD will be on sale for $35.00 We hope that all students will be able to participate in this performance to showcase their performing arts skills.

2018 Classes The class placement process for 2018 is underway. Creating balanced classes to best meet the needs of all students is a challenge every year. When deciding classes the following is considered: - Gender balance - A balance of behaviour, learning and other specific student needs - Grouping students who might benefit from collaborative support or who have similar learning styles - Student nominated friendships (all students have nominated friends) - Staff suggestions on friendships, positive working relationships, conflicts etc - Parent requests in relation to friendships For 2018 we need to fit 490 students into 18 classes that will be a challenge! Our numbers for next year have dictated that we will have a number of composite (mixed year level) classes. Due to the diverse needs of students in a class and our approach to teaching and learning at KPPS we don t believe students are disadvantaged by mixed year level classes. It s not possible for parents to request specific teachers. All parent requests are considered but at times cannot be honoured if options aren t available, a parent has unreasonable requests including; a long list of students their child must be with and a lengthy list of peers they cannot be with. Procedures - Staff are now developing 2018 classes - Letters informing parents about 2018 classes will be sent home Thursday December 14 th - After receiving letters, if parents have a query about 2018 classes then an online form can be completed. Concerns are then considered the next week (from Tuesday December 19 th ). There s no need to call or make appointments. We will contact you from December 19 th. - Students will visit their new class during the day on Thursday December 14 th. (New staff won t be present). Parents cannot be a part of these visits and will be asked to leave rooms during this time. The session is all about students meeting their new teacher, finding out who is in their class and starting to build relationships as a group. Party Day is coming! Thursday December 14th Instead of every class having their own party or excursion to celebrate the end of the school year, we have Party Day. It s a whole school celebration to finish the school year. The day is organised by our student leaders. When Lunch Dress Cost Activities Thursday December 14 th Subway lunch ordered through the canteen (forms out soon) It s a casual day Gold coin donation Massive disco, activities, performance

The Unit is changing! Walls are coming down, walls are going up, wet areas have been gutted and new entrances are being created. Cabinetry is being made and the floor coverings are on their way. Although it might not look like it from the outside, heaps is currently happening on the inside. The building won t be ready until the start of 2018 but we hope that just the painting will be required during January. If regulations allow it, our goal is to move big furniture back to the building during the last week of term and then staff will be busy setting up the week before school commences.

2017 M&S FEES REMINDER: there are still families that have not paid their 2017 M&S fees. Payment can still be received at the front office. Bank credit, or via QKR! Outstanding debts will be sent to the DECD Recoveries team who will legally pursue the fees. SPORTS NEWS Sports Trophy Night To celebrate another successful year of KPPS Sport, a trophy night will be held on Friday 17 th November, week 5. Pizza Party 5.00pm followed by streamlined trophy presentation at 6.00pm in our Hall. Please pencil the date in your diaries now to avoid the Christmas rush. More information to follow later. こんにちは, Konnichiwa Last Thursday the Early Years students held a Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing) Picnic in the Chase Peerman Playground. They brought obento and ate together in the beautiful spring weather. Everyone was very impressed by the colourful food that the students packed into their obento lunchboxes. We certainly have some very talented food designers among us! Please enjoy the photos of the children and their Japanese style lunchboxes. さようなら Sayonara Belinda せんせい Sensei
