K-2 LANGUAGE ARTS TITLE DESCRIPTION TIME We Choose to Integrate Word Study Throughout Our Day Participants will learn about assessment in word study and the logistics for getting a solid word study program up and running throughout the ELA block. We Choose Strong Anchor Stations Come and learn about establishing solid routines in your anchor stations and how to make purposeful choices for activities to support young readers and writers. We Choose Shared Reading Participants will learn how to establish a solid shared reading time in their classroom, develop an understanding of the purpose of shared reading, and how it supports other components of CISD READs. We Choose to Build a Supportive ELA Classroom Environment Participants will learn how to build a community of learners with strong management techniques and solid organizational structures. We Choose, Read Aloud, Think Together Come learn how to create a solid Read Aloud Think Together, that includes text selection, lesson format, and developing quality questions to support student thinking. We Choose Guided Reading Guided Reading is an important time of day in every ELA Classroom. Come receive an overview of the components of a quality guided reading lesson and share ideas for managing guided reading groups. We Choose to Build Strong Readers in K-2 Even our earliest readers can be successful in Independent Reading right from the start of the year. Come learn how to develop a good library and independent reading time in your K-2 classroom from day one. 6

K-2 SOCIAL STUDIES TITLE DESCRIPTION TIME We Choose Financial Literacy Through Literature The session will look at the new Personal Financial Literacy standards that are in the K-2 strand and see how they overlap with Social Studies standards. We will utilize the Frayer Model to look at strategies to teach these concepts across disciplines. Teachers will receive lesson plans, reading sheets and vocabulary cards to utilize in their classrooms. TBD TBD TBD We Choose to Showcase Social Studies Apps In this session, participants will learn several productivity apps to use in Social Studies with their students. We Choose to Know the Branches of Government We Choose #Social Studies ISNeat2 Teachers will prepare lessons addressing the structure of government designed for a student's Interactive Student Notebook. In addition, technology applications will be demonstrated to support the lesson. Kinder, First and Second grade is a year of Interactive Student Notebooks. Enjoy adding this year's vocabulary cards and anchor charts with an additional touch of technology, showing how to use SeeSaw as a tool for student study and parent communication. SESSION 1, 2 & 3 SESSION 1, 2 & 3 We Choose to Be Deep in the Heart of Texas Spice up your lesson with resources and ideas for teaching that Texas Unit. SESSION 1, 2 & 3 We Choose Geography: Landforms, Bodies of Water, Natural Resources We Choose Interactive Notebooks: Tips & Tricks Teachers will learn to create a lap book with additional materials to support classroom implementation. Included will be a demonstration of a project that brings to life the unique geography of Texas, which supports the acquired content vocabulary. If you are fairly new to Interactive Student Notebooks, this session will teach you some tips and tricks for a successful year. SESSION 1, 2 & 3 SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose Historical Figures in Kindergarten Kindergarten teachers will participate in a Make-n-Take session illustrating historical figures such as; George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen F. Austin, and Jose Navarro. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose SeeSaw/First Days of School Teachers will participate in a collection of lesson ideas on how to use SeeSaw in the classroom. We will talk about some ideas on how to establish a positive classroom community in those first three days of school. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose Ins & Outs of the Textbook Whether a novice or an experienced teacher, come see what's new in your Social Studies textbook. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 7

2ND GRADE SCIENCE TITLE DESCRIPTION TIME We Choose to Use Technology in Science Come learn about fun ways to incorporate technology and websites into your Science classroom. SESSIONS 1, 2 & 3 We Choose To Go Deep Into Space! Learn about creating a Moon Room to support the 2nd Grade Science TEKS. SESSIONS 1, 2 & 3 We Choose Using Non-Linguistic Representations in 2nd Grade! Explain and experience non-linguistic representations for 2nd Grade. Walk through each giving examples that the teachers can participate in, and then take back to the classroom and use. Then Brainstorm ideas for a unit they will teach. SESSIONS 1, 2 & 3 We Choose 5E Lessons in Science Using Talk, Read, Talk, Write! Come learn about a 5E lesson useful for TEKS taught on the first weeks of school. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose to Show SeeSaw Beginners How to Share Student Work! We Choose Using Non-Linguistic Representations This session is for newcomers or beginners to SeeSaw! Come see how to build student directed learning using SeeSaw. Walk away knowing how to empower students to share their work. Learn how to make 2nd grade science interactive charts with sticky notes. Teachers will create their own example during the session. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 SESSION 4, 5 & 6 2nd GRADE MATH TITLE DESCRIPTION TIME We Choose Fact Fluency with Manipulatives! Are you hard pressed to find hands-on ideas for 10 minute fact fluency lessons with your kids? Look no further! We have some low prep ideas to share so your students will learn to be flexible thinkers when it comes to addition and subtraction fact fluency. Come "play" with us. SESSION 1, 2 & 3 We Choose Tiered Anchor Stations We Choose to Get Started with Guided Math Get ready to rotate! Learn how to set up stations to meet student needs. Participants will experience what it looks like in their classroom and how to move students without teacher input. If you are considering or have just gotten started with Guided Math, we are your girls! Come learn what beginners with Guided Math need to know to make a smooth transition. SESSION 1, 2 & 3 SESSION 1, 2 & 3 We Choose Math with Alex s Lemonade Do you want to get your students engaged in math with a great literature connection? You will learn about and walk away with activities related to fluency, multiplication, money, graphing, and more. Come have some lemonade with us!! SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose 2nd Grade Fact Fluency with Purpose! Learn how students gain meaningful knowledge of their facts in a progression from concrete to abstract so facts are easily accessible all the time. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 We Choose Magnificent Manipulatives Come play with some math tools! This session will provide examples of the use of manipulatives to heighten student engagement while teaching several of the 2nd grade math units. SESSION 4, 5 & 6 8

Come learn about a fun and easy way to incorporate technology in the everyday classroom. We Choose Targeted and Specific in 1st and 2nd Grade Come explore a planning structure that evokes conversations and prepares instruction that minimizes student misconceptions. Learn how to align and make connections within the learning progression as well as looking at student work in order to determine mastery! We Choose to Forget Averages Come learn how to put less focus on averages and more emphasis on looking at how to improve skills! Keeping students motivated is crucial for success. The first days of school are so crucial for building relationships! Come and learn about how to motivate your students for a strong start to the year! We Choose to Be Positive with Classroom Management We will look at CHAMPS and ways to use it with Anchor Stations. SESSIONS 1 & 2 We Choose to Set Goals! Learn about goal setting, differentiated instruction and what CHAMPS look like in the classroom. Our focus is on creating a positive classroom climate and targeting social skills for the beginning of the school year. SESSIONS 3 & 4 We Choose to Organize Your Routine for Guided Reading and Literacy Stations for K-2 You will learn new ideas for organizing your guided reading groups and your literacy stations. SESSIONS 3 & 4 We Choose to Start the Year Off Right! We will learn about classroom structure with a fresh look at rules, correcting violations, and consistently providing appropriate consequences.
