Principal s Welcome Belfast Boys Model School, which was founded in 1857, has a long history of providing a quality education for boys in the Greater Belfast area. Our traditional values of academic excellence and sporting success are built upon a solid foundation of good relationships which exist within a caring, disciplined school environment. A highly committed and hardworking staff ensures that the school remains in the forefront of educational initiatives and developments. We have had, for many years, a very successful consortium with Belfast Model School for Girls and with other education providers. These partnerships ensure that we provide a rich and varied curriculum which caters for the interests and aspirations of our pupils. of the art classrooms, all with interactive whiteboards, excellent provision for sports, including a floodlit 3G soccer pitch, a 400m running track, a 6 court sports hall and a fitness suite. The school also has excellent Performing Arts facilities and extensive provision for IT and Technology training. The new build not only enhances the day to day learning experience for our students, but it provides for extensive community use, making the school a hub of the community. Having worked in the school since 1981, I greatly value the links we have forged with parents, industry and the community and I am confident that Belfast Boys Model School will continue to pursue excellence in all that it does and that all of our pupils will reach their full potential in a superbly appointed learning environment. Quality Relationships Full Service Extended School (FSES) This project seeks to:- address the wider needs of the child and his family raise expectations and aspirations for success in young people help identify and remove barriers to learning Belfast Boys Model is one of the only two Full Service Extended Schools to be set up in Northern Ireland. The FSES provision includes:- strategies to promote pupil engagement in learning programmes to strengthen self-esteem and confidence strategies to encourage healthy lifestyles Availability of help and advice to parents Opportunities for parents to become more involved in the life of the school support systems for boys who are experiencing difficulties in their lives e.g. specialist counselling and mentoring a range of support mechanisms (exist) forged from strong, highly developed partnerships with an extensive range of external agencies 18
