DECEMBER 20, 2013 VOLUME 2, ISSUE 16 Palestine Independent School District Wildcat Weekly From the Superintendent Jason Marshall IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE. - ACTS 20:35 Produced by Palestine High School Printing and Imaging Technology: Ana Balderas Rozi Balderas The spirit of Christmas was felt all around Palestine ISD this week. Everyone throughout the district had fun decorating their doors for Christmas. Many of the doors are fun, some are beautiful, and all of them are very creative. The door decorators donated $5 for their door. The winners of the contest will choose local charities to receive the donations. The doors can be viewed on the following pages. The Administration Office received a very special visit from students in the Southside Elementary choir and their teacher, Elaine Hazel. The students sang and danced to several Christmas hits. They played air guitar to Rockin around the Christmas Tree, and did a beautiful job signing the lyrics as they sang Silent Night. Thank you to Mrs. Hazel and the students for a very heartwarming performance. Christmas came early for the Wildcat Golf program this year as the PISD Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Grace United Methodist Church to manage the golf course at the former Meadowbrook Country Club here in Palestine. Grace United bought the property in November and plans to use the existing buildings for their church. PISD will maintain the golf course for our golf program, and in the near future plans to offer a golf course management program for students through our Career and Technology Program. Through private and corporate donors, PISD hopes to restore the golf course and ultimately open the course to the public. Thanks to Grace United for helping PISD establish another community partnership. Palestine ISD wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
