LMS BAND LMS Band practice music during the school day and perform 2-5 concerts in the evenings throughout the school year. 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students are eligible to participate. Students must pass the previous year of band to continue to the next level. Program runs September to June. LMS BOYS BASKETBALL LMS Boys Basketball is part of our Athletic Program. 7th & 8th grade boys are eligible to participate. Students must have a current sports physical on file, & have good academic and behavioral standing with the school. Program runs October to December. LMS GIRLS BASKETBALL LMS Girls Basketball is part of our Athletic Program. 7th & 8th grade girls are eligible to participate. Students must have a current sports physical on file, & have good academic and behavioral standing with the school. The teams typically play a 12 game season, which includes an end of season tournament. Program runs January to Mid - March. LMS CROSS COUNTRY Cross-country running is competitive sport open to all 6-8th grade students. Meets are typically 2 miles long, run on gradd courses; boys & girls are typically separated into different races. Practices are held daily. There are no cuts on this team. All who participate get to compete. You do not need to be a good runner to be in the team. Effort and Attitude is the key. Students DO need to turn in a physical before the first day of practice. LMS DELTA ACADEMY Delta Academy is a national initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that serves girls age 11-14. The Delta Academy provides educational and enrichment activities to girls at a crucial time in their development. The program focus on self-esteem, community service, educational achievement, leadership development, and physical & psychological well being. Girls age 11-14 are eligible to participate. LMS EAST COAST TRIP With transportation via deluxe highway motor coach and five nights accommodations at first class hotels, students will visit Niagara Falls, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Gettysburg, and Hershey Park. 8th Grade students only eligible to participate. GIRLS ON THE RUN Girls on the Run is a program where we inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a fun curriculum which integrates running. It is a physical activity-based program, that inspires 3rd - 6th grade girls using a fun experience based curriculum which creatively integrates running. 5th and 6th grade girls eligible to participate. LMS MASQUE LMS Masque is a theatre group that rehearses and performs full stage productions. Cast & Crew to be made up of: 6th, 7th, & 8th graders. Students must be responsible and respectful spartans, depending on audition sign ups most productions will need to make cuts from final cast & crew list. Students must complete all aspects of the audition process, and on time. Masque produces two productions throughout the school year and one in the summer. Productions run from September - December, January to March, and the whole month of August. Rehearsals are typically two or three days a week, and some saturdays, days and times will depend on auditorium availability. MASQUE JR. Masque Jr. is a theatre group that rehearses and performs one full stage production. Cast to be made up from District 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. No cuts are made with this age group, however, Students must complete the audition process, and turn in a permission slip & conflict form on time. Student production team is made up from District 7th - 12th grade students. Those interested in being production team members must complete the application process. Number of Team members and duties depends on the production. Program runs from Late March - May, rehearsals are typically two days a week, and some saturdays, days and times will depend on auditorium availability. Deanna Flora dflora@lakeviewspartans.org

MICHIGAN JAPANESE QUIZ BOWL Every year students from around Michigan meet to test their Japanese skills in a quiz bowl competition. The team forms in early January based on student interest, and the team practices once a week to get faster at answering questions in Japanese as well as question about Japanese culture. On the day of competition, students not only compete, but have opportunities to experience Japanese cultural activities. 8th - 12th grade students who are taking the Japanese language class are eligible to participate. The competition is in March and the team will meet starting in January once a week before school to practice. Tracy Pollard tpollard@lakeviewspartans.org

LMS NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY; DENNY MALCOLM CHAPTER LMS National Junior Honor Society is an academic and Service oriented society. Students eligible to join atr 7th graders after first trimester and 8th Graders. Students must hold a 3.5 GPA and complete the application process. NJHS runs the entire school year. LMS R.A.K. CLUB The Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K.) club helps LMS promote kindness. Students are involved in service projects that benefit staff and students, as well as various people/organizations in the community. Students must apply in the fall and commit to weekly meetings every Monday from 3:00pm - 4:00pm in room B13, with some exceptions. R.A.K runs the entire school year.

LMS RECYCLE CLUB The Recycling Club helps LMS promote proper recycling practices. The group meets briefly before proceeding throughout the school to collect materials to be recycled. Dave Ouellette douellette@lakeviewspartans.org 269-565-4860 Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate and must be in good academic standing, be able to follow directions, complete tasks without immediate supervision, work with others, and be respectful. The club runs for the entire school year.

LMS ROBOTICS CLUB FTC robotics mission statement Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well rounded life capabilities including self confidence communication, and leadership. Each fall, teams are shown the current year s challenge and need to design, build, and program a robot that is able to compete with other schools robots. 7th & 8th Grade students are eligible to participate with a letter of recommendation, and sponsorship goal. LMS ORCHESTRA LMS orchestras meet during the school day and perform 2-5 concerts throughout the school year. 6th, 7h, & 8th grade students are eligible to participate. LMS SKI CLUB Skiers/Snowboarders ski once a week at Bittersweet Ski Resort (after school until 9:00pm) Students in grades 5-8 that are in good standing are eligible to participate. LMS SPARTAN SINGERS Spartan Singers is an audition-based choir made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at LMS. Jeff Cachero jcachero@lakeviewspartans.org They meet twice a week after school and sing in many different venues such as community and sporting events and school functions. They have sung the National Anthem at events at LMS as well as for the BC Bombers and Kzoo K-Wings games. Students in grades 6,7, & 8 are eligible to audition, and must be able to attend, rehearsals,performances, and be in good academic standing. Students do not have to be enrolled in choir class to audition or participate. Group runs from Late September - June.

LMS SPELLING CLUB If you like words and their spelling, this club is for you! Every year, LMS holds a series of spelling bees that are part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition. Participation in Spelling Club helps students prepare for these competitions. Each December, all LMS students participate in a bee in their english class. The top 3 students from each english class will qualify to compete and perhaps the National; Spelling Bee in Washington DC. Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate. LMS SWIMMING and DIVING A chance for swimmers of all ability levels to compete individually and as a team against other middle school clubs. We are also a feeder program for the Lakeview Aquatic Club & Men s/women s High school teams. 6-8th grade students are eligible to participate. Students must have a current physical on file, pay participation fee, be passing their classes, have good attendance and be positive, respectful Spartans in order to participate in swimming/diving. LMS TENNIS LMS Tennis is a chance for students athletes to compete competitively individually, and as a team, in tennis against other middle school teams. We have a 12 member A-Team for our advanced players and an 18 member B-Team. THere are tryouts and cuts in this activity. We are also a feeder program for the LHS Men s and Women s Tennis Teams. Students in grades 7 & 8 are eligible to tryout. Students must have a current physical on file, pay participation fee, be passing their classes, have good attendance and be positive, respectful Spartans in order to participate.
