SENIOR CLASS 2016 Analy High School DATE: March 10, 2016 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: SENIOR PARENTS CHRIS HELLER, PRINCIPAL RAUL GUERRERO, VICE PRINCIPAL LINDSEY APKARIAN, VICE PRINCIPAL END OF THE YEAR FOR SENIORS END OF THE YEAR Congratulations to both students and parents! You have almost completed your senior year. Senior year is a culmination of thirteen years of schooling; completion of high school is an achievement to celebrate. SENIOR ACTIVITIES The end of the senior year brings many enjoyable activities which seniors in good standing are invited to attend. Attached is a calendar of events. These events will enable seniors to have many good times. COMPLETING CLASSES Even with the many activities to enjoy, seniors need to continue to attend classes and conscientiously do their schoolwork. Seniors can fail to graduate. Colleges and universities look at the eighth semester and will withdraw admission from students whose grades fall. Do not let senioritis be a fatal disease. Seniors can lose credits due to unexcused absences (8 or more) and fail to earn their diploma. GOOD BEHAVIOR In addition, seniors have to continue to be well behaved and follow the rules. Consequences continue to be the same or even more severe for serious violation of school rules. Students who are placed on school probation can lose the privilege of participating in senior activities up to and including participation in the commencement ceremony. It is especially important that seniors not consume alcohol or take drugs during these last days or in connection with senior activities. Any violation involving alcohol or drugs will result in suspension and exclusion from senior activities and commencement.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY We ask senior participants and senior parents to help us conduct the ceremony with dignity and decorum. The ceremony is a school event. Students sometimes feel that it is their ceremony, but it also belongs to the parents and family, to the Board of Trustees, to the teachers and staff, to the administration, and to the community. Analy High School is proud to present our graduates as adults to the community and we ask that they act like adults. Parents, we ask that you let your seniors know how you want them to behave. Seniors, please present yourself in a way that will make your parents and grandparents proud. We do want you both (students and parents) to understand that participating seniors may have their diplomas withheld and may be removed during the ceremony. If misbehavior is widespread, the ceremony may be stopped and discontinued at any time. Please help us conduct a ceremony that is enjoyable and meaningful for all. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY Only students who have completed all the requirements for graduation will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students must meet all course requirements and earn 230 units in order to march. Please be in contact with your student s counselor in order to be certain that all requirements are being met. Please also be aware that students may learn that they did not pass a requirement and cannot march as late as the day before the ceremony. All seniors must pass the English and Economics or Government class they are currently taking, with full credit, and often other courses. Spring Exams will be given. Students should know if they are in danger, and families should plan accordingly. The last day to turn in verification of credits earned at the Junior College, through adult education, or other programs outside Analy High School is Friday, May 13 th. PRAISE The Class of 2016 has much of which to be proud. We are proud of what the seniors and their parents have achieved. We hope that you all have a positive, productive, and enjoyable rest of the year. Please contact us at school if you have questions. And once again, congratulations on all that you have accomplished!
