Let Everyone Shine Presenting the 2018 Variety Show! March 1st, 2018 1 night/2 different shows Twilight Show (tk-3 grades) 5-7pm Moonlight Show (4 and 5th grades) 7:30-9:30pm (special exceptions made by the discretion of the directors) An entertaining evening showcasing the talent, creativity, and spirit of our Argonaut students - live on stage! Historically, this is one of Argonaut s MOST popular and MOST attended PTA events of the year! It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents outside the classroom. Students in TK-5 are welcome to get up on stage and show their stuff! It s going to be a GREAT evening! Experience the fun!

(Keeping in mind the length of the shows: ALL ACTS MUST BE 2 MIN OR LESS - Groups acts are STRONGLY encouraged) RULES & INSTRUCTIONS Please read this entire page carefully before registering. Rules have changed from previous years. Registration begins ONLINE, Dec. 15th, 2017, ends Jan. 11th, 2018 Variety Show Rules: The Variety Show is open to all students TK-5 who want to participate in an individual or group act. Each participant MUST register using online registration form Acts must be 2 minutes or less in length. NO EXCEPTIONS! Students in TK and Kindergarten may perform in the TK/Kinder Act and/or one other act. Students participating in the TK/Kinder Act only do not have to register online. TK/Kinder act will sign up in the classroom. 5th graders who wish to participate in the Fifth Grade Finale must also be in an individual/group act, be an Announcer, or part of the Backstage Crew.. Order of registration will be used to determine who gets limited spots for Announcers and Backstage Crew. Announcers must be in grades 3-5 and may NOT be in another act. (Exception: 5 th graders can participate in Fifth Grade Finale). (Limit of 8 announcers per show) 5th grade announcers will be given priority for the Moonlight show (if more than eight 5th graders sign up for announcer, the others will be offered the Twilight show. They can choose to NOT be announcers in the Twilight show - but there will NOT be another open slot for them in the Moonlight show) Backstage crew must be in 5th grade and in the 5th Grade Finale, but NOT in an individual or group act. (Number of backstage crew is limited to 4 for each show) Overflow backstage crew 5th grade sign ups will be offered other jobs (making posters, helping set up chairs day of show, etc.) All participants must be available on their assigned preview dates and ALL assigned rehearsals. Preview, 2nd Preview and ENTIRE Dress Rehearsal are MANDATORY! Failure to attend previews and rehearsals will mean exclusion from the show. No exceptions. All parents and participants must follow the sign-in/sign-out procedures. This is to ensure the safety of our children. (See Representative section in the online form.) Parents must fulfill a mandatory volunteer commitment if they have a child in any act, crew, or announcer role other than the Kinder Act. A Sign Up Genius link is available on the school website under Variety Show. Putting on the Variety Show is VOLUNTEER labor intensive, so all participants' parents must help. Every participant in a group act must do his/her own registration. For parents with children in more than one act, they should do multiple volunteer sign-ups equal to the number of acts. There are both small and large jobs available to fit your schedule! You can also choose the $150 buyout if you cannot fulfill your volunteer commitment. See below for details. Parents are not allowed to perform or be on stage or backstage during their child s act.

ALL ACTS MUST BE TWO MINUTES OR LESS >>>NO exceptions. All music must be in MP3 format, edited to 2 minutes or less. Music needs to be emailed to the directors by January 29th, 2018, prior to FIRST Preview. Email the music file to argovshow@gmail.com Please do NOT bring a music CD to the preview. No repetitive music is allowed in the same show. If more than one act choose the same music, it would work on the first-come first-served basis. All music, costumes, and performances must be G-rated. Review music lyrics carefully. The Directors have final authority on what is appropriate for the Variety Show. A pre-purchased ticket is necessary to see the show. This includes parents whose volunteer commitment is the night of the show and all TK/Kinder parents. Volunteer Assignment Procedure: The task of putting on the Variety Show relies on a time commitment from every participating family. We have worked at dividing up the duties to make this commitment manageable. Kinder Act parents are exempt from volunteer duty unless the kinder or a sibling is in another act/role other than the Kinder Act. January 20th is your first chance to sign up for your volunteer job. A link will be emailed for Online Volunteer registration. All positions and descriptions will be listed. Sign up for your volunteer job and time-slot as soon as you can the earlier you sign up, the more options you will have! Your volunteer position will be confirmed prior to Preview. Remember to show up for your assigned duty. Failure to show up will mean your child s exclusion from the show. No exceptions. If you cannot volunteer, you can buyout your volunteer responsibility by writing a $150 check to Argonaut PTA and depositing it in the school s office by January 26th. Important Dates to Remember!* Friday, December 15th, 2017 Thursday, January 19, 2018 Tuesday, January 19, 2018 Online registration begins TRIPLE check that your email is entered correctly. Email is the ONLY form of communication. Registration ends at 3:30pm IF you choose to BUYOUT your volunteer requirement, your $150 check is due today to the office. IF there is no volunteer job or no buyout check in the office by January 26, registration will be cancelled. Volunteer duty is MANDATORY for your child s participation (except TK/Kinder Act only. See Volunteer Assignment above). Sign up for Preview Times with Sign Up Genius! A link for this will also be emailed on January 20. If your child is in a group act, please have ONE parent sign up for a preview time. ONE SLOT PER ACT. Arrive 15 min early. Previews

will only be seen during listed times. Tuesday January 30, 2018 2:30-5:30pm and Wednesday, January 31, 2018 1-4pm in Room 5 Preview (MANDATORY): Perform all or part of your act for the directors. Make sure you have signed up for a time slot on Sign Up Genius. Check in with the volunteer parent outside Room 5. Acts will be called in order of check-in that day. If your act requires music, please email it in MP3 format to argovshow@gmail.com If your act does not have music, please be prepared to perform so that we can time your act and make sure it is less than 2 minutes long. There will be a piano available. Tuesday, Feb 13, 2018 2:30-5pm and Wednesday Feb 14, 2018 1-4:00pm in the MPR Monday, Feb 26, 2018 Check-in in the MPR Twilight Show - 3-5:30p Moonlight Show - 5:45-8:15p 2nd Preview if needed (MANDATORY): Children will perform their complete act for the Directors, with just some polishing/fine-tuning left to do. If music files are NOT to the directors by this time, the act will be dropped from the show. Dress Rehearsal (MANDATORY): Acts should be 100% complete and polished at this point. Performers should come in full costume/dress. Check in with the volunteer parent at the MPR. Find your seat. This is your best opportunity to take photos of your performers. A specific 2.5 hour window will be given based on your show assignment (Twilight or Moonlight) The children need to stay for the ENTIRE dress rehearsal, NOT just their act.
