- Seeding will be determined by team standings within each league on date of submission. - To enter Sectionals, an athlete must have represented his or her school in six events on six different dates. Only High School sanctioned events count. Check the NYSPHSAA handbook for further information. - Start order for sectionals is determined on a rotational basis between the 3 leagues in Section V 2018 2019 2020 Monroe S. Tier Wayne S. Section V Day of Meet Information & Regulations 1. A. First run GS & SL results will be posted by the referee on the Scoreboard along with a public announcement of the posting. 15 minutes will be available for protest after posting. Protest is to be made to the Section V Coordinator by the school coach. B. GS and SL second run re-seed order will be posted when official by the timing room The re-seed order will also be available at the start. C. The first 15 place finishers from the 1 st run will start in reverse order on the 2nd run. The remainder of 1 st run finishers will start in the order of their finish in the 1 st run. DSQ, DNS or DNF athletes will run after all 1 st run finishers. D. Team scoring in class A & B will be done by lowest place-points of the best three finishers for a school. Teams with less than three finishes will receive last place-point plus 1. 2. Each school receives a maximum of 6 lift tickets (5 athlete and 1 coach) from Section V. Additional tickets are $45 each. Payment or voucher is required. Tickets for non-racers those not entered in the meet, are $45 Schools will be billed if tickets are picked up for racers and/or coaches who have season passes by the host venue 4. Unsportsmanlike behavior and disqualifications will follow the Section V policy. Unsportmanship behavior must be reported by a race official to a referee or the technical delegate (TD) 5. Awards: A. Class A & Class B Team Trophy & Sectional Shields B. First place SL & GS Shields for both classes C. 1, 2, 3, place medals for SL & GS for Both classes D. Trophy for Alpine Combined Champion (points based) 6. Forerunners cannot be Section V competitors of either gender. 7. All officials for Sectional Events are selected by the Section V Coordinator and the host venue. Skiing Policy for all Alpine events in Section V 1. The USSA Handbook is our governing document for Alpine Skiing. 2. Helmets designed for ski racing are required for all events and practices. FIS approved stickers must be visible on the racers helmet and in clear view for officials to recognize. 3. Each league determines its race scoring, event order, number of competitors per school, schedule of events, and whether to admit outside the league school teams to league events. 4. Section V coordinator is the overseer of all Alpine events in Section V. Protests and waivers are first submitted to the league, and then to the Section Coordinator for appeal. Protests at the event are conditional, and are official when reduced to writing and signed by the Athletic Director. 5. Meet chairman is responsible for all officials assigned to the race. 6. All races must be school scheduled through the School Administration. 7. The School s Board of Education approved coach is the representative responsible for supervision and entry of athletes at all events. 8. Co-Sponsored (school & outside group) events must have approval from the Section V Executive Director.
Section V Alpine Skiing Entry February 13 (boys) & 14 (girls), 2018 All Sectional entries will be submitted by school appointed coaches via a GoogleDocs Document. This document is shared among the coaches in Section V Alpine Skiing. Coaches are asked to follow the directions attached to the GoogleDocs document. Any questions pertaining to the submission of Sectional Entrants should be directed to Bill Mathews or Todd Bialecki. **Entries are due no later than 9 am on Thursday, February 8 th ** State Meet Information Mon. 2/26/2018 at Bristol Mountain - SL Tue. 2/27/2018 at Bristol Mountain - GS Qualifying for the Meet: 1. Each run counts as a qualifier; 2. Medal winners (1 st,2 nd,3 rd place) in GS & SL overall, not by class, will automatically qualify; 3. The combined SL & GS League champion from each League (1 per league) will automatically qualify, but must compete in the Section V meet; 4. The first place (time based) eligible team overall will qualify 3 skiers to represent their High School; 5. The remaining places, up to a total of 12, will be selected from the lowest place points for three runs; 6. All ties will be broken by the best place-finish of the (3) qualifying runs. If still tied, then the second place-finish will be used. If still tied, then the lowest cumulative time of the best SL & best GS finishes of the qualifying runs will be used. Bristol Mountain information: Sunday: Training courses will be available. Tickets are $ Monday: SL - Inspection at 9:00, race begins at 10:00; 2 nd run at 1 pm Tuesday: GS - Inspection at 9:00, race begins at 10:00; 2 nd run at 1 pm Schools are responsible for Intersectional expenses, and will be billed by Section V. Training tickets are NOT included. Racers who practice on Sunday MUST purchase a training ticket at Bristol Mountain. A State Meet dinner for all athletes and coaches will be held on Monday, at approximately 6:00 pm. The dinner will be at The Inn on The Lake, in Canandaigua. All Section V athletes & coaches are to attend. The banquet will be part of the expense billed to the schools.
