WHAT is the STEM Academy? The AISD STEM Academy is a four-year high school program for students seeking exciting and rigorous courses and careers in STEM! STEM Academy Pathways STEM Academy students choose one of these pathways
Math and Science Students will take PreAP/AP math and science courses all four years Option for accelerated math and/or science
UT Arlington Dual Credit Students have the option for UTA dual credit during their junior and/or senior year Students may take 1-2 UTA courses per semester Courses available on the UTA Campus and online Course available as part of the school day, in the evening, and/or summer There is no cost to the STEM Academy student Courses include STEM and Core University Courses
Capstone Course/Internship Junior or Senior year Internship with a company such as: Lockheed Martin Texas Rangers UT Arlington City of Arlington And many more!
WHO is Eligible for the STEM Academy? The AISD STEM Academy is open to current 8 th graders Who attend an AISD junior high school and/or Reside in the AISD school district
WHO Should Apply for the STEM Academy? Students who have a strong interest in a STEM career Students who are ready to work hard Students who would like to take STEM college courses at UTA while in high school Students interested in expanding their STEM experience outside of the classroom Students who have a good attendance and a good discipline record
WHY Join the STEM Academy? You have a passion for STEM! Science and Math Technology and Computer Science Engineering Biology or BioMedical You have a desire for the following: Graduate with 21-32 hours in your college major from UT Arlington STEM related field trips and extracurricular activities Professional mentors and internships Enjoy all the benefits of high school (fine arts, sports, clubs)
WHERE is the STEM Academy? The AISD STEM Academy is located at Martin High School Students in the STEM Academy enjoy the benefits of: The STEM Academy Martin High School (sports, fine arts, clubs, etc.)
HOW Do Students Get to the STEM Academy? STEM Academy students are bused from other AISD high school campuses before and after school Extracurricular Activity buses depart MHS at 5 to 5:30 p.m. for students participating in after school activities
WHEN Should You Apply for the STEM Academy? Complete the application online by February 24 www.aisd.net/stemacademy Or print a copy of the application in English or Spanish from our website www.aisd.net/stemacademy Application Deadline: February 24
