SALEM MIDDLE SCHOOL PTA LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT: Happy Fall to you all! Thank you to all who supported the book fair this fall. The PTA receives 25% of the sales minus what we keep in scholastic dollars for the library and tool kits for the next fair. This year, we donated $447.53 in new books for student s to check out. It really is a great fundraiser and we truly appreciate your support! None of what we do is possible without the direct support of our PTA membership, volunteers, fundraising efforts and donations. ANY help, whether it is the gift of time or financial support, is truly appreciated and makes a REAL difference. Please give what you can. Our meetings are open to everyone. We welcome new faces and new ideas! Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15 th 6:00 p.m. in the Library (check the PTA website for remaining dates). Please consider joining us. We'd love to meet more people and get a wider range of input into what we are doing and how effective we are. Help us to make the PTA a better vehicle to support the students and the school. On behalf of the entire PTA Board, we hope you and your students have a rewarding and successful school year! Best regards, Cheryl Negron Salem Middle School PTA President
JOIN THE PTA: Membership Drive The PTA is looking to boost its membership by having Mr. Sparling (Activities Coordinator), Mr. Hofmann (Asst. Principal), Mrs. Brinkley (7 th grade Science Teacher) AND Ms. Brinkley (Librarian) camp out in the school s courtyard during the Halloween Dance, Friday, October 30. It s not too often you see Faculty and Staff members go this distance to support the PTA and the students who attend this JAW-SOME School! We currently have 398 memberships (INCLUDING FACULTY/STAFF) and there are 1,044 students in attendance. FOR EVERY 50 NEW MEMBERSHIPS, THEY WILL STAY OUTSIDE FOR 30 MINUTES WHILE THE STUDENTS ARE WATCHING THEM FROM THE COMFORT OF THE INDOORS WHERE THERE IS FOOD AND RUNNING WATER, OH, AND A DJ PLAYING THE LATEST HITS!! HOW FUN WILL THIS BE! THANK YOU so much to all of you that have joined so far, but we really need to kick it up a notch to show we care about our little sharks and their home away from home. We can t do this without your help! For any questions, please contact quangie617@verizon.net.
