In the Glow of 50 Golden Years

Transforming Lives to Make a Difference

Take a step back in time to a bygone era and partake in the delights of redolent reminiscences.

ST. MARY S INTER COLLEGE, ETAWAH Estd. 1967 THE HERALD Vol. 11 N e w s L e t t e r October 2016 The Herald ST. MARY S INTER COLLEGE ETAWAH, U.P. 206 001 PH: 05688-254626 Principal Fr Binoy Joseph Manager Fr Joby Joseph Vice Principal Sr Suma CMC Headmistress Sr Alphons CMC Editors Mr Manu Scaria (Chief Editor) Mr Tomin k George Editorial Assistance Mr Alok Dixit, Mr Abin K Joseph Photography Mr Ashish George, Mr Prince Thomas, Mr Binil Augustine Dear Parents, Teachers, Students and Well wishers, Its time of Jubilation, filled with golden memories and a heart full of gratitude. We are in the Glow of 50 golden years. The Golden Jubilee celebrations began with pomp and show on 16 th July with its inauguration on the Patroness' Day. We are going to witness a number of activities throughout the year before its culmination on 1 st May 2017. It is an occasion for Marians to look back with a sense of gratitude to the past. The pioneering members have offered their blood and sweat with a vision and mission to develop this institution to its present stature. It is also an occasion for us to look ahead with enthusiasm and courage. Let us strive together to achieve our goals and fulfil our dreams. Let me take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt Golden Jubilee greetings to each one of you. Thank You, Fr Binoy Joseph Parackal Staff Secretaries Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier, If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other, If you judge people, you have no time to love them. Mr Tomy Joseph Mr George Jacob Mr Princekutty Thomas Mrs Kajol Kiran David

DIVULGING THE INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF JUBILEE The word Golden Jubilee Jaws the volume for the aura of glory in which our school lies submerged. For a period of five decades, it has unfailingly sent out students who are capable of being good citizens on whom the nation can count for help, guidance and the upliftment of the downtrodden. SMIC corroborated the start of something novel, which would never be rubbernecked again but left on the pages of SMIC s history. The Lighting of the Lamp by the honourable guests and dignitaries on the stage, along with Rev. Dr Joseph Mundakathil marked the official beginning of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Programme, signifying the passage and progress from darkness (ignorance) to light (knowledge and enlightenment). And... Then came the most awaited and important moment of the celebration, with the chief guest formally inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebration with a declaration to the effect and releasing colourful balloons in the sky spreading the message of gaiety and good cheer. The celebration continued in the evening. The evening part began with a Holy Mass at Christ The King Church by His Grace Most Rev. Dr Albert D Sousa, Archbishop of Agra along with priests from sister concerns. Soon after the Holy Mass, a colourful get together tagged on. Speaking on the occasion His Grace said that Jubilees were the occasions to look back and retrospect to march forward with more vigour and oomph. Today will give place to tomorrow and tomorrow will dawn into a day after and yet another 50 years will fade into oblivion.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY AND INAUGURATION OF CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES The Investiture ceremony denotes investment in being leaders and the trust and confidence we repose in newly invested office bearers for the involvement of the students community in day-to-day functioning of the school, since we believe in child centric approach. Investiture ceremony and inauguration of co-curricular activities was demeanoured along with the inaugural function of Jubilee. Rev Fr Binoy Joseph, the Principal administered the oath of service. Rev. Fr Thomas Ezhikad, the President of St Thomas Educational Society; Fr Joby, the Manager; Fr Binoy, the Principal; Sr Suma, the Vice-Principal and Sr Alphons, the Headmistress adorned the captains and vice captains with badges and sashes. They stood upright with their heads held high and their hearts in humility as each of them picked up their precious flags. The ceremony was more bejewelled with gaudy cultural shows. MOCK ELECTION: AN EDUCATIONAL TRANSFORMATIVE PROCESS FOR A BETTER DEMOCRACY St Mary s Inter College tabulated mock elections to introduce young people to the concept of elections before they have reached their voting age. The elections will give the participants an understanding of democracy, the role of government and parliament. The experience of elections plays a role in stimulating future young voters to cast their ballot. The newly elected office bearers are: College Captain : Ishita Jain College Vice Captain : Harshit Sharma Jr College Captain : Agrim Tiwari Jr Vice Captain : Ojaswi Yadav MOTHER TERESA S HOUSE Sr Captain (boys) : Arpit Jain Sr Captain (Girls) : Kavya Gupta Sr Vice Captain (boys) : Umang Yadav Sr Vice Captain (Girls) : Ann Jacob Jr Captain : Swayam Singh Jr Vice Captain : Bhavika Tiwari ST ANTONY S HOUSE Sr Captain (boys) : Aryan Dangar Sr Captain (Girls) : Areeba Irfan Sr Vice Captain (boys) : Prakhar Tiwari Sr Vice Captain (Girls) : agrati Jr Captain : Prince Pratap Singh Jr Vice Captain : Varun Pratap Singh ST FRANCIS HOUSE Sr Captain (boys) : Abhishek Kumar Sr Captain (Girls) : Mitali Mishra Sr Vice Captain (boys) : Arpit Kumar Sr Vice Captain (Girls) : Aasta Dubey Jr Captain : Kabir Verma Jr Vice Captain : Nishka Badwaraj ST ALPHONSA S HOUSE Sr Captain (boys) : Aditya Kumar Sr Captain (Girls) : Shreya Badauria Sr Vice Captain (boys) : Prateek Kumar Sr Vice Captain (Girls) : Tanya Shakya Jr Captain : Agrim Tripathi Jr Vice Captain : Dhruvika sharma RUNNERS UP IN INTER SCHOOL SENIOR S FOOTBALL COMPETITION

The tricolour flag was hoisted by Dr Rajeev Yadav, The Chief Medical Officer, Etawah. Everyone on the campus was geared up and stirred with the vivacious stage show. VIDYARAMBHA: AN INITIATION INTO KNOWLEDGE Vidyarambha is the crux when young children are introduced into the world of alphabets or letters as they take their first step into the world of knowledge. This special ritual introduces young children to the process of learning. Why education should always be accompanied by a process that creates a sense of inclusion within a person, because empowerment without awareness can and has become disastrous for humanity. Keeping it in the mind, special Vidyarambha was held at St Mary s Inter College on 6 th April. No matter how our children are bent, the ability to analyse ideas, and articulate their views confidently and persuasively will set them apart in whatever field they pursue.
