Why Honors and AP Classes? A study by the U.S. Department of Education indicated that a high school program of high academic intensity and quality precisely the kind offered by the AP Program is one of the best predictors of college success 45% of students who have taken one AP course and 61% of students who have taken two or more AP courses are completing their bachelor s degrees in four years or less. Only 29% of students who enroll in colleges without taking AP are completing their bachelor s degrees on schedule. 60% of all recent high school graduates entering a community college last year needed to take at least one remedial course.

9 th Grade Advanced Placement AP American Government AP Human Geography 1200 Lexile 8 th grade AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you'll need to be successful in college. You'll improve your writing skills, sharpen your problem-solving abilities, and develop time management skills, discipline, and study habits. Talk to an AP teacher or the AP Coordinator at your school about the course you want to take. Discuss the course's workload and any preparation you might need.

AP Capstone AP Capstone is an innovative diploma program that provides students with an opportunity to engage in rigorous scholarly practice of the core academic skills necessary for successful college completion. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of two courses AP Seminar and AP Research and is designed to complement and enhance the indepth, discipline-specific study provided through AP courses. It cultivates curious, independent, and collaborative scholars and prepares them to make logical, evidence-based decisions Rising 8 th grade Capstone 2021 meeting-see Valli Robinson in the Media Center tonight.

Honors and AP Classes Challenge Yourself But don t drown It is O.K. to take Honors in some academic areas and not in others. We encourage all students to take as many honors classes as possible. Students who take honors classes are better prepared for college.
