Guru Nanak Sikh Academy Primary Phase Sport Funding report. 2016-2017. School overview At Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. Our Primary School Sport s Funding enables us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, entering into more competitive sports competitions and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions. What is Primary School Sport Funding? (PSSF) The Government has provided funding of 150 million per annum for academic years 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding has continued for the academic year 2016/17. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. Our Primary School Sport s Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, building upon on resources and equipment and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions. See the link below for the Department of Education link to the Primary School s Sports Funding page: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pe-and-sport-premium-for-primary-schools
