EHS Highlights Safety Statistics : 2057 LTI free days and 18.73 million LTI free man hours were achieved till 31/01/18. 105 number of safety walks were performed during the month. Total six nos. of stop works authority were applied during the month. Monthly Apex Safety Committee meeting was held on 02.02.18 Reward & Recognitions : The following personnel were adjudged as Safety Champions for the month of Jan-2018: Mr. Madhusudan Bag, CHP of OPGC Mr. Upendra Pradhan, MM, M/s Fab Erectors Mr. Khirod Chandra Pandey, MM, M/s Fab Erectors Ms. Jagyaseni Oram, Civil Maintenance, M/s Taranisen Behera Mr. Manoranjan Behera, Engineering, M/s A.C. Nath Safety champions being honoured Mr. Naval Kishore Sahoo was rewarded for achieving highest score in on line safety quiz awareness program for the month of Jan 18. EHS Training & Awareness : Two sessions of internal training imparted to leadership level on performing quality safety walk through online. Three days training program on Scaffolding, Fall Protection & height work were imparted by an external faculty which covered competent persons, Technicians and contractors. Road Safety week was celebrated from 08th Jan 18 to 14th Jan 18. Different awareness programs on road safety were organised among the employees, contractors and school children. One road safety awareness rally was conducted involving school children, employees, contractors and safety committee members to create awareness among ITPS people & nearby community. The rally was 2 Road safety awarness rally inaguration inaugurated by GM O&M (I/C) & Head-EHS with showing the flag.

Officials of SPCB, Jharsuguda visit completed successfully for CTO & Bio-medical waste renewal. O&M Overview At 00:45 hrs of 20th Jan-18 Unit-1 was hand tripped due to generator slip ring sparking problem. Boiler was lighted up at 13:31 hrs & unit was synchronized with Grid at 17:27 hrs of 20th Jan-18. APEX AWARD Regional Apex competition of Eurasia SBU was held on Amsterdam Netherland on 10th to 12th Jan-18. selected for Global competition. All the 3 projects of OPGC won in their respective category. Project-2: Reduction of Start-up time after Unit Trip presented by Santosh Kumar Sahoo bagged 3rd position. Project-1: Minimization of loss in calorific value of coal during the process of storage and handling presented by Ramesh Chandra Panda bagged 2nd Position & got Project-3: Acoustic Leak Detector in Boilers (Replica project) presented by Bauri Bandhu Behera bagged 3rd Position & got selected for Global competition. 3
Monthly performance Corporate Social Responsibility Mega Learning Carnival 2018 OPGC, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions has been sincerely making attempts to bring about qualitative changes in lives of people in the peripheral villages of its thermal power plant at Banharpali of Lakhanpur Block in Jharsuguda district. One among its many flagship CSR interventions is Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) implemented in 35 Schools near the Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) which is in execution since 2015. A part of this intervention is Mega Learning Carnival (MLC). This annual event is being organised with a view to spark curiosity, ignite imagination and propagate a creative temperament among the students and teachers of 35 target schools located in the periphery of Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS). The third Mega Learning Carnival was organized at the OPGC Learning Centre Campus of ITPS for 5 days from 9th to 13th January 2018 in collaboration with Pratham Education Foundation, OPGC s implementation partner in Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP). Director (Operations) of OPGC Mr. Alok Mukherjee inaugurated the event on 9th January in the presence of Block Education officer of Lakhanpur block Mr. Rabi Ratna Bag and Head of CSR & Sustainability Dr. Manoj Dash. Dr. Dash presented the welcome speech and introduced this unique intervention to the audience. Director (Operations) Mr. Mukherjee spoke on the significance of imparting education through modern learning methods. About 3000 children and 180 teachers visited the Mega Learning Carnival during the five days long event and got exposure to innovative ways of learning science, languages and mathematics. Dr. Prabhas Kumar Singh, Hon ble Member of Parliament, Bargarh Parliamentary Constituency, attended the valedictory event as the Chief Guest on 13th January, 2018. HR Corner Farewell OPGC bid farewell to three employees on 31st January, 2018. Mr. Prakash Chandra Mishra, Sr. Technician (Mech) Gr-I posted in the Coal Handling Plant of ITPS along with Mr. Mihir Das, Dy. Manager(Finance) and Mr. Niranjan Swain, Sr. General Manager(Finance), both posted at corporate office retired from the services of the company on 31.01.2018 on attaining the age of superannuation. A farewell meeting was organized in the honour of Mr. Mishra at Ib Thermal where colleagues from various departments gathered to convey their best wishes for his post retirement life. In a separate meeting held at OPGC corporate office at Bhubaneswar Mr. Das and Mr. Swain were given farewell by OPGC employees in the presence of Director(Operations) Mr. Alok Mukherjee and Director(Finance) Mr. H.P. Mr. Soumya Sambit Behera, Sr. Asst. Manager, Mr. Somen Nayak, Asst. Manager(F), Mr. Trinath Mishra, Accountant attended the sessions on 27th and 28th January 2018 at Bhubaneswar. Training Updates 6 One day CPE Seminar on GST Direct Tax was organized by ICAI, Jharsuguda Chapter on 13th January 2018. Mr. B. B. Manager (F) attended the session at Jharsuguda. Two days seminar on GST The Sustainability Imperative was organized by ICAI, Bhubaneswar Chapter along with Tax Research Department at Bhubaneswar. (Purchase), An in-house EHS training on Scaffolding was conducted on 29th and 30th January 2018 at 1st Floor Conference Hall of Resource Centre. 15 personnel from Mechanical Maint., Electrical Maint., Plant Civil and CHP attended this two days session. The faculty for the programme was from M/s. Chola MS Risk Services, Chennai. An in-house EHS training on Scaffolding and Work at height was conducted on 31st January 2018 at Ib Thermal Resource Centre. The programme was specially designed for Contractor employees, supervisors and contract engineers wherein 16 participants from Mechanical Maint., Electrical Maint., Plant Civil, Facility Management and CHP attended. The faculty for the program was from M/s. Chola MS Risk Services, Chennai.
One training programme on road Safety DEFENSIVE DRIVING TECHNIQUES was organized on 17.1.2018 at Bhubaneswar in IDCO Conference Hall of Fortune Tower. M/s ASHRA Club Bhubaneswar extended support to organize this programme. All regular drivers and selected employees of OPGC corporate office who drive own vehicles participated in this programme. Defensive Driving Training An Insurance awareness programme for the year 2017-18 was conducted by Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd. at Hotel Suryansh on 29.01.2018 on behalf of OPGC Corporate Office. Director (Finance) inaugurated the programme in presence of Sr.G.M.(Finance). The Team of Reliance General Insurance presented different aspects of the insurance policy/ies with special focus on OPGC as well as addressed the queries from the participants. Potpourri ITPS ladies club members visit Sebashram inmates at Hemgir In continuation of their philanthropic activities, members of ITPS ladies club visited the inmates of Ekalabya Sebashram in Hemgir of Sundargarh district. They donated school bags, learning materials, food supplies etc. and spent some quality time with the children. Distribution of School bags by Ladies Club Members ITPS Ladies Club Members with inmates of Sebashram OPGC celebrates 69th Republic Day OPGC celebrated the 69th Republic day at all its locations including IB Thermal Power Station with enthusiastic participation from employees, their family members and general public. At the corporate office location at Bhubaneswar Managing Director Mr. Indranil Dutta hoisted the National flag in the presence of employees and their family members. Director (Operations) Mr Alok Mukherjee unfurled the tricolour and took the salute of the parade at the Rajiv Gandhi ground in ITPS campus before addressing the audience on the significance of Republic day. Contingents of Security Service, girl and boy scouts and civilian contingents of DAV High School and DAV Public School participated in the Parade. All officials and employees of ITPS along with their family members and inhabitants of the adjoining areas gathered in hundreds to witness and celebrate the event. Students of DAV Public School and DAV High Schools entertained the audience by performing on patriotic song and dance routines. Chaiti Ghoda Dance, a tribal dance form of Odisha, performed by DAV High School students was one of the attractions of this event which enthralled the audience. On this occasion, awards were given for best performance in many areas. National flag was also hoisted at other locations of IB Thermal such as Plant Campus wherein Plant Manager Mr. Sanjay Garhwal hoisted the National flag, IB Thermal Club, ITPS Ladies Club etc. Employees and members of clubs attended these ceremonies with patriotic fervour. 11
