Winter Sports Program 2017 For local primary schools, students and the community Local sporting groups were asked to provide information about their organisation and what they have to offer to potential junior members for this coming winter. This document contains details of providers within Campbelltown Council offering a range of activities, namely: Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Calisthenics, Karate, Netball, Scouts, Soccer, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis. It is asked that your school promote these sports through your appropriate channels and encourage children and their families to participate in out of school hours activities. Athelstone Football Club

Athelstone Basketball Club Athelstone Basketball Club is based at the Athelstone Football Club, corner George Street and Schulze Road, Paradise. The club offers basketball training and social games for children aged 6 to 16 years of age. Training nights vary according to the team and the coach. Under 12 s generally train on a Wednesday night at Turramurra Recreation Centre between 4.30-6pm. It is expected that each team trains on one night for approximately 45 minutes. Older teams usually train at a local primary school gym in the area. All games are played on Saturday. U8 s and U10 s play in the mornings, U12's play midafternoons and U16's play late afternoon/early evenings. Games are played between the venues of Turramurra Recreation and Golden Grove Recreations Centres. Fees are $90 per season, a once off $7 registration fee with Turramurra Recreation Centre and $6.50 per game paid on game day. Uniforms cost $60 for basketball shirt and $10-$15 for basketball shorts. Athelstone Basketball Club was originally set up to keep the Athelstone footballers fit in the off-season. It has now grown to be an all year around sports club for any children aged 6 and over interested in a fun team environment playing social games. The seasons run terms 2 and 3 for winter season, and terms 4 and 1 for summer season. We are currently calling for any interested winter players. Norwood Basketball Club Norwood League is the biggest basketball provider within the north-eastern suburbs. We have the experience and capability to provide development pathways for players, coaches and referees. Registrations are now open for players who wish to learn in targeted training session, join a team, or both. We also welcome already established social teams and schools to enter their teams in our competitions. Training Options Norwood Hoops: Training program for boys and girls aged between 5 and 9 years old who are beginners to the sport delivered by a Norwood district coach. Sessions are run for an hour each Saturday morning at 9am at The ARC Campbelltown. Ideal for beginners who want to learn the skills of the sport or young players already in teams who wish to increase their skill level. Pink Ball: A girls only training session for girls aged 5 to 9 years old. Sessions are run for an hour each Saturday morning 9am at The ARC Campbelltown. Ideal for beginners who want to learn the skills of the sport or young players already in teams who wish to increase their skill level. Development Squad: Development Squad is a small group training session for multiple age groups and both genders designed to help improve basic skills and gain a greater understanding of the game. Delivered by Norwood district coaches, it is a great way to learn new skills, improve your old ones and gain valuable information from our coaching staff. Sessions are run on both Friday evenings and Saturday mornings at The ARC Campbelltown. Playing Options Norwood League: Norwood s first domestic program. Played across age groups from under 10 upwards at The ARC Campbelltown, Norwood League is a great way to be introduced to playing the great game of basketball while making new friends. Players are assigned to one of five clubs (Storm, Titans, Hornets, Bears and Wildcats) with games starting Saturday mornings at 10am and extending into the afternoon. District coaches are available to help support coaches new to the sport. Team registration for the season costs $80, game fee is $49 per team per game and playing singlets are available for a once off cost of $40 each. After School Basketball: Catering to children in year 2 to year 7, our after school ball caters to school teams, with games played at The ARC Campbelltown. Campbelltown Netball Club Campbelltown Netball Club, located on Emery Road, Campbelltown, offers netball for juniors in U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups. Come and join in the fun at the Scout Hall, Maryvale Road, Athelstone. Athelstone Scout Group would like to invite children between the ages of 6-14 to Come 'n' Try Joeys, Cubs and Scouts. The first three weeks are free. We offer a range of fun activities including camping, hiking, games, craft and the chance to make lots of new friends. Athelstone Soccer Club Athelstone Soccer Club is a South Australian Amateur Soccer League and Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association affiliated club in the suburb of Athelstone. In 2017 we will be fielding mixed junior teams for all ages from Under 6 up to Colts (U17/U18). These teams will compete in the Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association. We are accepting of all players, regardless of ethnicity or skill level, and we actively encourage new migrants to join our club and meet new friends. The club also focuses on the social aspect to the game, trying to ensure all players enjoy playing for Athelstone. Located at Athelstone Recreation Reserve, 267 Lower Athelstone Road, Athelstone Soccer Club offer junior training and games for the following age groups: U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16. Campbelltown Squash Club Established in 1976, Campbelltown Squash Club organises men s and ladies teams for Pennant competition and also holds an internal competition twice a year between Pennant seasons that caters for players of all levels. This comprises of practice and coaching every Monday night from 7 to 8pm. We cater for all children of school age. Basically once they are at school, they are physically tall enough to see over the table. That is the only factor that would prevent a child from playing. We don t discriminate against children with poor coordination or skill level. We encourage all children to play. We are located at Foxfield Oval Hall, Maryvale Road, Athelstone. The cost to attend on Monday nights is $50 per year which is our club membership fee. We do have a free Come and Try for the first two sessions at no cost to potential members. All participants need are non-slip shoes. We do have some basic table tennis bats for players to use, but once participants sign up they will need to purchase their own equipment which we can source at discounted prices. Our club complies with the Recreation & Sport Child Protection program and volunteers maintain current police checks. We are also registered with the Good Sports Program.
