Primary Department (Social Studies and Language week) Social Studies Week Social Studies Week was observed from 21 st to 26 th October 2013.The following activities were conducted during this :- 1) Educational Tour : Students of classes III, IV, V were taken to Nehru Planetarium (Teen Murti House). Students were given a pre-excursion worksheet to familiarize them with the excursion site. The students went around the exhibition and learnt about the life of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. They also visited the Planetarium where they saw the models of space shuttles, space suits etc. and learnt various facts about the universe. They enjoyed the trip very much. 2) Exhibition : Early Man Class III Various activities representing the early age were depicted. Children displayed jewellery made by them. Various bulletin boards were displayed on the topic. The students explained everything very confidently. Principal Sir Mr. H.R. Sharma appreciated the efforts made by the students and teachers. 3) Fance Dress Competition - Class IV Children dressed up as different historical characters and spoke about them. 4) Bulletin Board Competition Class IV Our Heritage Class V- Means of communication

This was a group activity where all the children brought material to decorate the board. Result : Class V Class IV I position V-C IV-A II position V-D IV-C III position V-A IV-B 5) Debate Class V Topic : Internet A boon or a bane. Winners : Class V I position Vishesh Togra V-A II position Rashika Gupta V-B III position Kumar Swayam V-D 6) Role Play : A language week was organized by primary department from 28th Oct 2013 to 1st Nov 2013. It began with a Role Play Competition organized for class III, IV and V. Students portrayed themselves as various characters from the story books which they read in the junior library. Some of the characters represented were : Goldilocks, Ugly Duckling, Noddy, Snowhite, Birbal, Cindrella, Black Beauty, Tenali Raman, Baghira, Krishna, Mullah Naseruddin etc. These were supported by narrators who explained the roles being performed. The Prize Winners were : Class III I Prize Anisha, Fiza (III-A) Rabani, Ninad (III-B) II Prize Aman, Chhavi (III-C)

It also inculcated zeal amongst them to enhance their vocal skill. Language Week ( 28 th Oct 2013 to 1 st Nov 2013) It is the need of the hour to develop communication skills to learn to express confidently in all walks of life. Continuing our efforts to make our learners imbibe the essential language skills, Language Week was organized for all the students of class III, IV and V. The highlights of the week were :
