City Schools Named a finalist in VSBA Green School Challenge as one of the top three in the State. Worked with FCPS for a successful boundary change. Increased communication channels to better communicate with parents, including an app, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, e-newsletter and a redesigned website. 3
Elementary Daniels Run Elementary recognized as a Virginia Naturally School for the seventh year and winner of the NoVa Outside Green Award from George Mason University. Daniels Run Elementary Principal Adam Erbrecht was nominated for First Year Principal of the Year by Fairfax County Public Schools. Providence Elementary recognized by Fairfax County Public Schools with a blue ribbon for their mentoring program. Providence Elementary launched All Pro Dads group to encourage fathers to work in the schools. 4
Middle Mr. Julio Dejo of Lanier Middle School awarded Support Employee of the Year by Fairfax County Public Schools. Lanier Middle School received a $1,000 grant from local business to support art education. Eco-Club is first place winner in the George Mason University Caring for our Watersheds contest. Lanier student is a Gold Key winner in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards, as well as the VSBA First Place Northeastern Regional Art Contest. 5
High School Fairfax High School was awarded a gold medal from U.S. News and World Report and ranked as 11 th best school in the State. Fairfax High School student won a Cappie Award for Lead Actress in a Musical. Fairfax High School band invited to a prestigious national competition in Indianapolis. Cheer team named State Champion for the second time in four years. 94.7 percent of 2012 graduates attend a two or four year college, or enrolled in military service. 6
