In order to apply, please follow the steps listed below: Step 1: Admission Test Registration NO LATER THAN 5 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 - Register at www.ib.sirwilfridlaurierci.ca by filling out and submitting an on-line form with the following 7 pieces of information: first name, last name, home phone number, email, current school, School Board, Guidance Counsellor s name. - If you are a student with special needs, please email, fax or mail your IEP to the coordinator ASAP. - Within 2-3 business days, you should receive a confirmation of registration by email. Please submit ONLY ONE form. Make an inquiry by phone/email instead of submitting extra on-line forms. Step 2: Admission Test 1:00-3:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 - Bring a hard copy of your completed application package and the payment of $10 (cash only, exact change, non-refundable) to the Laurier Pre-IB Admission Test. - See Page 2 of this package for the Laurier Pre-IB Admission Test Regulations. Step 3: Application Status NO LATER THAN 5 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 - You will be notified by email of your application status: 1) accepted, 2) placed on the wait list or 3) not accepted. Step 4: Acceptance of Admission Offer NO LATER THAN 5 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018 - In order to accept an offer, successful candidates must o send a reply email to the coordinator; o complete the course selection form - for TDSB students: submit via myblueprint under the direction of your guidance counsellor - for non-tdsb students: send completed course selection and registration forms directly to the IB coordinator.
Page 2 Laurier Grade 9 Pre-IB Admission Test Regulations Friday, December 1, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Test Administration Fee is $10 The Admission Test will consist of the following four parts: Mathematics (30 min), French (30 min), English Reading (15 min) and English Writing (15 min). Note that the test is based on the regular Grades 7 and 8 materials. Make sure that you check the test preparation materials posted at http://www.ib.sirwilfridlaurierci.ca/index.php/admissions. The Test will begin at 1:00 p.m. sharp. There will be no washroom breaks. Make sure to arrive early, at least 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the Test, to have enough time to use a washroom and sign in. Parents are strongly recommended to drop off and pick up their children due to the limited parking space. Steps to follow: 1) Report to the sign in table in the Auditorium according to the first letter of your last name. (Due to the limited space in the auditorium aisles, please have no more than one person accompanying you in the line-up. The other family members should wait outside of the Auditorium). Present your photo id (passport, TDSB index card, etc.), the completed application form and the fee of $10 (cash only, non-refundable, exact change). Receive a label and proceed to the assigned test location shown on the label. Student volunteers will be available to direct you to the appropriate room. 2) Once in the test room, find the registration envelope with the label identical to the one you have received in the Auditorium and sit down. Be silent at all times, do not touch anything on your desk and follow all instructions given by the invigilator. If you have questions or concerns, raise your hand and the invigilator will assist you. The following items ONLY are to be taken to your desk in the test room: - completed Application Package o Do not bring any folders, files, protection sheets. Instead, use a paper clip to hold the paperwork together. o Do not include any materials that are not listed on the application form such as honour roll certificates, extra-curricular activity photos, resumes, etc. Such materials will not be used in the admission process and will be shredded. o Do not place any originals into the registration envelope in the test room. Instead, place PHOTOCOPIES of required documents (proof of address, report cards, etc.) Please note that photocopying services are NOT available on-site. - pencil (to be used on the score sheet for multiple choice questions), pen (to be used to complete the English writing task), eraser, calculator, water (in a clear container only). DO NOT bring to your seat any personal electronic devices other than a calculator. A cell phone is NOT permitted for use as a calculator. Scrap paper will be provided. Do not bring any other written materials that are not listed above. You should be focused on your own work and must not engage in any type of communication with anyone except the invigilator during the test. Make sure you follow all the regulations listed above, because if you do not, you will be asked to leave the room, and this will be the end of your application process. Good luck!!!
