ABOUT USA The mission of USA Archery is to provide the necessary resources to foster strong athlete participation, competition and training in the sport of archery. USA Archery is the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of archery. USA Archery is the organization recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee for the purpose of selecting and training men s and women s teams to represent the United States in Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Pan American Games. USA Archery also selects teams for World Championships, World Cups and other international competitions annually. From local parks to the Olympic podium USA Archery provides a wide variety of programs, events and resources to help support the development of archery programs and all spectrums of athlete development. INSTRUCTOR & COACH CERTIFICATION Programs Camps & Events High Performance Equipment & Grants Membership in USA Archery is open to everyone involved in all disciplines of archery. The resources in this guide will tell you how you can start an archery program, get involved in, compete or support the sport of archery today. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Archery, formerly known as the National Archery Association, was formed in 1879 to foster and promote the sport of archery.

INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION COACH CERTIFICATION Archery instructors and coaches are the foundation of USA Archery grassroots programs and the athlete development pipeline. Obtaining instructor certification provides you with valuable knowledge and hands-on skills, and also ensures the safety of your archery program. USA Archery offers the following instructor certification programs that are ideal for instructors involved in archery programs, with a strong beginner component. Level 1 Instructor This course will prepare you to instruct participants in short-term archery programs, such as Explore Archery, that are focused on introducing basic archery skills to beginners. Level 2 Instructor - This course will prepare you to instruct athletes participating in long-term archery programs such as Junior Olympic Archery (JOAD) and the Adult Archery Program - Level 2 instructors are introduced to the National Training System (NTS) - Level 2 instructors are certified to teach Level 1 courses Level 2 Instructor Trainer - Level 2 - Instructor Trainers are certified to teach a Level 2 course - Prerequisite - Level 2 Certification - Level 1 and Level 2 courses can also be offered as a program class, generating revenue for the instructor or organization Instructor and coach certifications are recognized by USA Archery and the National Field Archery Association (NFAA). Instructors who wish to increase their coaching knowledge and transition from group to individual instruction are encouraged to pursue more advanced coach education courses offered by USA Archery. As a USA Archery coach you will have the opportunity to work with both developing and elite archers. USA Archery coaches are educated on the National Training System (NTS) and receive advanced instruction in developing athlete training plans, sports psychology, nutrition, event preparation, equipment tuning and much more. COACH CERTIFICATION Course options Level 3 NTS Coach Level 4 NTS Coach Level 5 NTS Coach Level 4-NTS and Level 5-NTS coaches are eligible to be selected for USA Archery national camps and International Team Staff (ITS) positions. Archery programs are popular, fun and a perfect fit for parks and recreation departments, camps, after-school programs, archery retailers and many more. Archery is great for any recreational program because it caters to youth, adults, families and participants of all abilities. FLEXIBLE PROGRAM OPTIONS Explore Archery can be completed in a day, a week, or offered for a short period of time over a span of multiple weeks, indoor or outdoor. DEVELOPMENT JOAD ADULT PROGRAM What is a JOAD Club? JOAD Clubs are official clubs of USA Archery where archers ages 8-20 can receive beginner, intermediate and advanced archery instruction from USA Archery certified coaches. JOAD Clubs offer recurve, compound, and barebow archers the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting techniques in an environment that also fosters focus, increased self confidence, and team building skills. A Program That Grows With You Whether your child s interest is purely recreational or competitive in hopes of making an Olympic, Paralympic, or World Championship team, USA Archery s JOAD program is tailored to help them achieve their goals. Members of JOAD clubs can earn official achievement awards for scoring accomplishments. Each archer will receive a personalized lanyard to showcase their star pins to proudly demonstrate their achievements. From Star Pin awards, to the Six-Star Gold Star, and ultimately Olympian Awards, your hard work is rewarded at every level. Challenge Yourself The Adult Archery Program is structured to help archers 21 and up set and achieve reasonable goals that align with individual skill levels. Our progressive achievement levels challenge archers to do their best and keeps them motivated to come back for more. Tangible awards including Star Pins, the Six-Gold Star, and ultimately Adult Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards allow archers to proudly show off their accomplishments at every step along the way. I made my first Olympic team when I was 36, and my fifth at 52. CAMPS USA CAMPS USA Archery Camps are designed to introduce archers to the National Training System and provide archers an opportunity to interact with an Elite coaching staff and other archers who are also dedicated to taking the next step as competitors. During the camp archers will learn and practice: - The National Training System (NTS) shot cycle and shooting form - Learn and complete goal setting exercises - Learn how to better prepare for tournaments - Increase performance confidence EVENTS USA Archery has competition opportunities that fit the needs of all archers! National Championships events are conducted indoors in the winter, and outdoors in the summer; youth and adult participants can enjoy archery as a year-round sport. In addition to sanctioning hundreds of local and state events across the country, USA Archery also offers archers a fourevent national team selection event called the USAT Qualifier Series. Whether you re a beginner, an intermediate level archer, or an Olympic or Paralympic hopeful, USA Archery has tournament opportunities for you! USA Judge Program Tournament officials are in many ways the backbone of USA Archery s events. Thanks to our certification program, as well as seminars taught by National and International Judges, USA Archery s officials are well trained to officiate at competitions and ensure that tournaments are run safely and by World Archery rules. PARA Regardless of age, size, or physical ability, archery is a sport for eeryone. Participants in para archery compete at the same level as the entire field with the help of adaptive equipment.
