Be Competitive

I studied A Level ICT and BTEC Business Studies Double Award at Ryburn. I fully involved myself in the Sixth Form Volunteering Programme, helping to organise the Prom Fair and charitable fundraising events. I also took part in lots of sporting activities organised especially for Ryburn Sixth. This encouraged me to work as an effective team player and fulfilled my competitive nature. In recognition of my commitment to the school, I was awarded Senior Student Status. The experiences and support I gained from Ryburn Sixth helped me to write a strong UCAS application and perform confidently at interview. I am now studying Computing and Business at the University of Huddersfield. Raheem Khan

I studied English Literature, German, Performing Arts and General Studies at Ryburn Sixth. I spent over 200 hours volunteering, went to Amorback on the German exchange, and visited Ethiopia on a life changing volunteering expedition. I regularly gave up my time to volunteer at local primary schools which inspired me to become a primary school teacher. I enjoy the Arts and found that there were lots of enrichment opportunities for me to undertake, allowing me to develop my communication skills and confidence. I took on lead roles in school productions, such as Grease and High School Musical, and often performed at open evenings and celebratory events. Thanks to Ryburn and the opportunities it provided me with, I am now fulfilling my lifetime ambition of studying Primary Education at Edge Hill University.
