August 27 September 3, 2013 (6-10 cosecutive class days) tuitio ad required fees will be refuded at 75% mius a $25 o-refudable processig fee; September 4 September 10, 2013 (11-15 cosecutive class days) tuitio ad required fees will be refuded at 50% mius a $25 o-refudable processig fee; September 11 September 17, 2013 (16-20 cosecutive class days) tuitio ad required fees will be refuded at 25% mius a $25 o-refudable processig fee; Begiig September 18, 2013 (21st cosecutive class day) refuds will ot be cosidered. Residece Classificatio Notice to Studets Your curret residece classificatio, for purposes of applicable tuitio rates, is required to be chaged if, sice origial establishmet of your curret classificatio, your state of legal residece has chaged. (1) If you curretly are classified as a o-residet for tuitio purposes, it is your right to petitio for a chage i classificatio to that of residet if you claim that you are ow ad, for at least the 12-moth period immediately precedig the date of such petitio, have bee a legal residet for tuitio purposes of North Carolia. If it is determied that i fact you have bee a legal residet for the required 12-moth period, the effective date of chage i applicable tuitio rates shall be the begiig of the academic term ext followig the date of applicatio for tuitio chage, provided, that a chage i billig rate may be made retroactive to the begiig of a academic term durig which applicatio was made if the 12-moth period is foud to have bee satisfied i the begiig of that term. The Uiversity of North Carolia Board of Goverors adopted a Pla to make tuitio ad fee rates for udergraduate North Caroliias predictable ad affordable. Pursuat to the Pla, the maximum rate of aual icrease for udergraduate residets for campus-iitiated tuitio is 6.5% ad the icrease i geeral fees (Athletics, Health Services, Studet Activities, ad Educatioal ad Techology Fees) is 6.5%. Exceptios to the Pla were allowed to help address academic quality, to partially remedy the cumulative egative impact of several years of state budget reductios, ad to help the Uiversity protect the quality of a UNC educatio. Specific iformatio, icludig maximum allowable icreases i tuitio ad fees per academic year by UNC campuses is available at http:// www.orthcarolia.edu G.S. 116-11(7) requires that the Board of Goverors set tuitio ad required fees at the istitutios, ot icosistet with the actios of the Geeral Assembly. Tuitio ad fee rates icluded i this bill were approved by the Board of Goverors i February 2013. The tuitio icreases approved for 2013-2014 of $201 per residet udergraduate studet, $500 per oresidet udergraduate studet, $214 per residet graduate studet ad $700 per oresidet graduate studet will geerate $6,032,328 i additioal reveue. Those fuds will be used for eed ad merit fiacial aid, faculty ad academic support, studet services, ifrastructure, ad operatioal support.
