VOLUME 3 - EDITION 6 11 MARCH 2015 Knowledge & Insight Equality & Compassion Integration & Wholeness Confidence, Competence & Responsibility Self-worth PRIMARY SCHOOL INTER-HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL ARENA JOONDALUP, THURSDAY 5 TH MARCH 2015 As a new member of staff at the School, it was an absolute pleasure to witness my first Primary School Inter- House Swimming Carnival. The atmosphere inside Arena Joondalup was incredible, with the colours of each House taking over the main stand. As with any sporting event that we organise, the key focus for the day was participation and enjoyment and I was extremely pleased and proud to see so many of our students participating. The level of challenge varied from student to student; some had records in their sights, for others it was completing a full 50m swim and for a few it was simply getting in the water and taking part. I would like to congratulate all of our students on their positive attitude towards meeting these challenges and the level of support they provided to each other. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all the parent helpers and the Peter Moyes Anglican Community School staff for making the day such a success. The overall Champion House was Hollows. The positions were as follows: 1 st Hollows 2 nd Lingiari 3 rd Durack 4 th Cuthbert 5 th Florey

ACC SWIMMING FINAL ACC SWIMMING SQUAD SWIM OFFS & SQUAD PHOTOGRAPH WEDNESDAY 18 th MARCH (ALL Listed Squad members to attend) Tomorrow is the specialist Breast Stroke training session for those students allocated this individual stroke event. In order to finalise the ACC Swimming Squad, the Swim Offs will take place on Wednesday 18 th March at HBF Arena, Joondalup. All relay teams will also have the opportunity for a final team practice. The Swim Offs are preceded with the official ACC Swimming Squad photograph at School and are followed by a Squad bowling session at AMF Joondalup. The ACC Swimming Squad will then be published as Final and no further changes will be made unless due to unforeseen injury, illness or absence which we hope to avoid. P&F LEVY HOURS OPPORTUNITY - Swimming Timekeepers needed!!! It would be very much appreciated if parents could offer their assistance to act as Timekeepers at the Swim Offs.. Please contact Mr. B. Streeter at school on 9403 5500 or bstreeter@petermoyes.wa.edu.au if you are able to assist. SCHOOL SWIMMING BATHERS Below is the ruling from the ACC Swimming Charter in relation to Inter-School Bathers: Bathers: It is mandatory for competitors to swim in official school bathers. In exceptional circumstances schools may seek an exemption from the ACC for individual students to swim in non-official school bathers, as long as they are FINA approved (being in good moral taste and non-transparent) and are predominantly in school official colours. Official school bathers should be COMPETITION RACING BATHERS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS. Exceptional circumstances would refer to things such as: Bathers not available/out of stock Financial hardship in buying school bathers Physical issues such as body shape/skin disorders. N.B. Personal preference for wearing non-regulation school bathers would not be an acceptable excuse. Schools seeking exemptions should submit their exemption on the swimming bathers exemption form before the carnival. JUNIOR CAS SPORT RESULTS WEEK 5 There was another pleasing win for the Junior Girls Touch Rugby Team in a highly competitive match against strong opposition. Caitlin Chase scored twice on the wing, while Abbigael Fulcher (Capt.), Cassidy Smith (Vice Capt.), Katie Robertson and Lucy McCorkindale also scored. Strong play in the middle of the field by Abbigael Fulcher, who led by example, and Georgia Morgan kept the defence strong whilst also pressuring the opposition in attack. Katelyn Graham played well in a convincing win for the Year 7 & 8 Girls Basketball Team and she was ably supported by Destiny Murphy and Rosie Powell on debut. Bree Mays also added to a team performance where all players scored. Amy Croker showed great improvement in her play in a Tennis loss. Maddison Mitchell played well for the Year 9 Girls Basketball Team in a loss. The Year 7 & 8 Boys Basketball Team had a convincing win away with Jaiden Steele (Vice Capt.), Jamie Anderson, Dane Lines, Ethan Mellor and Craig Tarleton all contributing in a team performance. Elliston Parade, MINDARIE PO Box 240, QUINNS ROCKS WA 6030 9304 5500 9304 5599 admin@petermoyes.wa.edu.au www.petermoyes.wa.edu.au

SENIOR CAS RESULTS WEEK 5 The Senior Girls beat Prendiville which was a pleasing win as they beat us last year in the Grand Final. The Senior Girls Volleyball Team continued their improvement demonstrating great sportsmanship along the way in another win versus Irene McCormack. The Senior Boys Volleyball Team narrowly lost the first set 27-25 but could not force a 3 rd set and are still to notch a win. Both Basketball Teams are still yet to register a win. Ladders can be found at: http://www.metisc.com.au/iscoresn/index.cfm?db=5&foid=4 P&F LEVY HOURS OPPORTUNITY Year 7 Lightning Carnival Parental Team Assistants needed!!! In order to successfully run the year 7 Lightning Carnival, parents are offered the opportunity to assist coaching a Year 7 Team on the day. Without volunteer assistance, these events would not be able to run, and they are dependent on the support and help of volunteers. Team Assistants are required on Friday 27 th March at the relevant venue; however, most parent volunteers meet at Peter Moyes Anglican Community School in the morning and travel on the bus with students. The sports which require Team Assistants are: Basketball Soccer Touch Rugby Volleyball Cricket SSWA Netball Carnival Parental Umpires needed!!! Each year we compete at the Northern Districts SSWA Netball Carnival held at Kingsway. We are required to provide an umpire per team, for the duration of the day, at which the following teams will compete: Year 8A&B (Two Team Umpires needed) Year 9A (One Team Umpire needed) Year 10A (One Team Umpire needed) The Carnival is held on Friday 1 st May (Week 2, Term 2) and your help would be greatly appreciated. Transportation on the bus with the teams can be accommodated if necessary. Please contact Mr. B. Streeter at school on 9403 5500 or bstreeter@petermoyes.wa.edu.au if you are able to assist in any of these roles, or if you would like further information. This will contribute a minimum 6 hours towards your parent voluntary hours and can be counted towards the P&F levy charge.

NEW EVENT NETBALL DEVELOPMENT CLINIC!!! On Thursday 2 nd April (the last day of Term 1) a selection of Year 7 and Year 8 Girls will be invited to attend a Netball Development Clinic conducted by Netball WA and the Netball SEDA students. Invitations to students will be as a reward based upon Co-Curricular Pre-Season Netball attendance and School Netball representation in 2014 (Year 8 s only). This event will aid our grading of students for the Term 2 CAS A Teams, especially due to amended Year 7 Camp timing which means the Year 7 s will not be able to compete at the SSWA Netball Carnival this year. The proposed timings are: Year 7 s: Year 8 s: 8.55am 10.25am (Periods 2&3) 10.45am 12.15pm (Periods 4&5) This Netball Development Clinic will be held at School and there will be no charge.
