Forsyth Technical Community College Winston-Salem, NC 27103-5197 Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology - CT Imaging Technology Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate Applicants must hold current ARRT and/or NMTCB certification and registration in a supporting category or be enrolled in the final semester of a supporting category educational program. Fall 2018 Deadline: July 13, 2018 ***Admissions Information*** Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology The CT Imaging Technology Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate is a selective enrollment, advanced specialty certificate that provides didactic instruction in core content considered essential in educating technologists in the postprimary practice of computed tomography. The Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate is designed for credentialed technologists working in CT and wanting to pursue ARRT postprimary certification and registration in computed tomography. Students and technologists NOT working in CT may enroll in the TNC. The applicant accepts responsibility for satisfying the ARRT clinical procedural requirements independent of structured education. The Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate curriculum is based on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Computed Tomography Curriculum and is offered each fall. Applicants must be: 1. ARRT credentialed in radiography, radiation therapy, and/or nuclear medicine technology or 2. NMTCB certified in nuclear medicine technology or 3. In the final semester of a radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine technology educational program at an accredited, ARRT-approved institution The Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate is 12 semester credit hours of didactic course content delivered partially online and partially in a traditional classroom setting. Courses are taught with the expectation the student is working in CT and has a basic understanding of data acquisition, scanning terminology, and sectional anatomy. The student is expected to contribute to the learning process by relating his or her experiences from working in CT to the topics covered. Successfully completing all Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate requirements satisfies the ARRT requirement for structured education. After satisfying the ARRT clinical procedural requirements, the student is eligible to apply to take the postprimary certification and registration exam in CT. 1

Resources such as clinical facilities and faculty, as well as approval standards, limit the number of applicants accepted to 12 students for the fall. The CT Imaging Technology Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate is an advanced certificate and applicants must meet minimum requirements to be considered for admission. Please note, however, that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Program specific questions should be directed to Cindy Smith, Program Coordinator for CT, at 336-734- 7560 or csmith@forsythtech.edu. Qualified applicants will be ranked based on criteria listed in this packet. Applicants not admitted to the program must reapply if they wish to be considered for the following year s class. CT Imaging Technology Program Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate Acknowledgement of Postprimary Certification and Registration Requirements Completion of this acknowledgement is required when applying for acceptance to the Traditional Non-Clinical Certificate The TNC is designed specifically for technologists working in CT and wanting to pursue ARRT postprimary certification and registration in computed tomography. Technologists NOT working in CT may also enroll in the TNC. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists application process for postprimary certification and registration in computed tomography requires documented completion of specific clinical procedural experience requirements and documented completion of at least 16 hours of structured education. The ARRT requires structured education activities to meet the same criteria as CE requirements meaning, academic courses are awarded 16 CE credits (possibly 18 CE credits effective 01/01/18) for each academic semester credit hour. TNC applicants are responsibility for fulfilling the ARRT clinical procedural experience requirements either through employment or through self-secured clinical placement. Successfully completing the TNC results in documented completion of 192 hours (possibly 216 hours effective 01/01/18) of structured education in CT Patient Care, CT Safety, CT Image Production, and CT Procedures. After satisfying the clinical and structured education requirements, the applicant is eligible to apply to take the postprimary certification and registration exam in CT. My signature (written or electronic) indicates I accept responsibility for securing the documented completion of specific clinical procedural experience requirements, either through employment or through self-secured clinical placement.
