From the Student Handbook (p. 6): The Language and Thinking Program takes place in the three weeks prior to the beginning of the BA. All Bard College Berlin BA first-year students, Bard College first years attending Bard College Berlin, and Academy Year students are required to attend and pass the Language and Thinking Program in order to register officially as students of Bard College Berlin. The expectations regarding attendance and preparation in the Language and Thinking Program are identical to those during semester time. Attendance is required at all sessions of the program, and assignments must be completed according to the deadlines and specifications set by the instructors. Non-attendance at a session, failure to participate adequately, or failure to complete assignments will be reported to the Dean and may result in a student being asked to leave the program. Students who do not complete the Language and Thinking program are given the opportunity to re-enroll the following year.

Welcome to the Language and Thinking Program at Bard College Berlin! The next three weeks will be filled with exploration, both in the classroom and throughout the city of Berlin. Everyday in class we ll read, discuss, and write, while throughout the program we ll get to know Berlin and help you to adjust to life at Bard College Berlin. In the following pages you ll find the complete schedule of activities as well as your group assignments. All L&T Sessions are required. In addition, other required activities are in bold. Tours, social activities, and other outings are strongly encouraged! If you have any questions, the faculty and staff are here to help.
