POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Head of Sport K - 12 Reports to: Director of Sport and Activities ORGANISATION SUMMARY Pymble Ladies College is a K-12 day and boarding school of the Uniting Church in Australia committed to providing quality educational opportunities for girls within the context of the Church ethos. The College is non-selective and welcomes girls of Christian and non-christian faiths. With over 2100 students and more than 800 employees, Pymble Ladies College is a dynamic and progressive educational organisation. One of the key elements of our strategic plan Towards 2020: Striving for the highest is the provision of a personalised education for all girls that is universally acknowledged for its quality, innovation and excellent opportunities. This is underpinned by a strong focus on the development of an innovative and relevant academic and co-curricular curriculum that reflects individual and unique strengths, interests and promotes the wellbeing of girls and young women. POSITION SUMMARY The Head of Sport is responsible through the Director of Sport and Activities to the Principal in all aspects of this position. In collaboration with the Sports Coordinators, the position manages the provision of a safe, professional and well organised Sports program to all students. The Head of Sport is responsible for the organisation of all aspects of the College Sports Program and works closely with the Sport Coordinators, Coaching Directors and Head Coaches, Junior and Preparatory Sport Coordinators, the Facilities Department and other key staff at the College. KEY RESPONSIBILITES 1. Management and oversight of the School Sports Program 1.1 Collaborate with the Director of Sport and Activities in the development of consistent processes and procedures 1.2 Ensure these processes and procedures are carried out and adhered to Head of Sport (2017) Page 1

1.3 Originating action to improve existing conditions and processes; identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions 1.4 Develop training policies and programs in collaboration with other staff 1.5 Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently 1.6 Facilitate progression of students from the Junior to Senior School in relation to sport 1.7 Facilitate the entry of appropriate numbers of teams into the IGSSA / local / state wide competitions 1.8 Enter / nominate students for rep teams such as CIS 1.9 Check all nomination dates and plan to implement all necessary processes for nominated dates when required 1.10 Facilitate the maintenance of effective records of attendance and achievements of students and contribute this data to the process for awarding Colours 1.11 Organise and Coordinate, in conjunction with the Sports Coordinators and the Director of Sport and Activities, the School Swimming, Athletics, Diving, Rowing and Cross Country Carnivals for Secondary, Junior and Preparatory Schools 1.12 Communicate administrative tasks such as newsletter articles, web page information, online form information and results to the Sports and Activities Administrator in a timely manner 1.13 Organise Inter School events when appropriate 1.14 Inspect and order equipment for the program through the Director of Sport and Activities 1.15 Set clear expectations for students, staff and parents in support of the Pymble Code of Conduct for all competitions 1.16 Be responsible for the interpretation of School policy and risk management from a sport perspective, and its implementation for all School Sport 1.17 Demonstrate and provide opportunities for sharing of best practice 1.18 Establish a familiarity with rule requirements for all relevant sports 1.19 Be cognisant of current trends in teaching and learning as relevant to sport Head of Sport (2017) Page 2

1.20 Meet with the Sport and Activity Captains as well as the individual Sport Captains and oversee their roles within the College 1.21 Liaise with all sport coordinators on a regular basis and facilitate, through them, the sports programs 1.22 Contribute to advice on student placement in sport 1.23 Represent sport within the School and to the wider community 1.24 Support the School s Co-Curricular program generally not only sport. 2. Student welfare and development 2.1 Provide a safe and secure playing and training environment for all School Sporting Programs 2.2 Develop students positive experiences through participating in these programs. 3. Relationship management 3.1 Develop a strong, professional relationship with staff, students and parents at the College 3.2 Oversee the performance of sports co-ordinators and coaches in all aspects of their role 3.3 Embrace the concept of team and demonstrate a respect for the value of professionals working towards the attainment of a shared vision 3.4 Notify the Director of Sport and Activities of any issues as they arise 3.5 Ensure that planning processes facilitate the daily and short range needs of the College 3.6 Contribute to decision making processes in support of the College. 4. Communication 4.1 Conduct all communication with students, staff, parents and members of Pymble Ladies College community and external entities in a professional and respectful manner 4.2 Ensure all written communication is courteous, professional, accurate and reflective of the professional standards of the College 4.3 Contribute towards the development of effective communication through developing positive and professional relationships with all staff. 5. Risk and Compliance 5.1 Ensure that work undertaken is done within the policy of Risk Management and WHS practices 5.2 Meet the expectations for safety in the workplace and report potential risk to Director of Sport and Activities 5.3 Remain informed about Emergency Response procedures and be capable of following and applying these should it become necessary 5.4 Support the Director of Sport and Activities in compiling risk assessments for sports, events and facilities pertinent to the Sporting Program 5.5 Support Sport Coordinators in compiling risk assessments of all excursions and activities pertaining to Sport 5.6 Support key staff in the implementation of efficient and effective risk management plans that reflect adherence to legislation, compliance and policy as it relates to the Sporting Programs at the College 5.7 Report any risk in relation to College property or equipment to the Director of Sport and Activities in a timely manner 5.8 Report directly to the Principal on any matters relating to child protection. 6. Professional Learning 6.1 Remain abreast of current and best practice standards 6.2 Identify and participate in training programs that will enhance innovation and improve knowledge and skill. 7.
