Vol-3(2017) Sept Oct 2017 CORNUCOPIA ALOK PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER DIARY OF EVENTS: Teachers Day celebration for class VI to XII on 5 th September The Principal, Vice Principal and teachers paid a floral tribute to the great teacher of our nation, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. First one hour was observed for student teachers. Interested students of senior section assumed the role of teachers and taught lessons in junior classes. The students from all classes rocked the stage with their thrilling performances to entertain the teachers. Half Yearly Exam for classes VI to X and Unit Test-2 for classes I to V were conducted successfully in the second-half of September. 14 th September was observed as All India Flag Day for the Blind in the school to make the children aware of the capabilities and potential of visually impaired people. Members of the National Association for the Blind had visited the school. A group of blind artists surprised our students with their singing and musical talent on the stage. Our school hosted Interschool KAVI DARBAR- 2017 (Sarcastic and Humorous Poetry Recitation Competition) which provided platform to blooming Hindi Poets of Silvassa to express their creative thoughts and ideas. Twenty-eight students and five teachers from Eight schools of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Valsad district took part in the competition. Shiv Prakash Memorial School, Silvassa BAPS, Silvassa Dr Vijaypat Singhania School, Vapi St.Xavier School, Silvassa Father Angelo School, Silvassa Atul Vidyalay, Valsad Alok Public School, Silvassa The competition was conducted in three phases. (i) Class VI-VIII, (ii) Class IX-XII and (iii) Teachers. (Browse further to see the overall result.) Navaratri was celebrated with vigour in the school on 27 th September. The students from all classes rejoiced whole heartedly playing garba. 2 nd October was observed as Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shashtri Jayanti in the school. The Principal,Vice- Principal and all teachers paid a floral tribute to the Father of the nation and the former Prime Minister of India. A group of teachers sang the famous Gujarati folk song Vaishnav Jan To Tene Re kahiye je... which had been a part of Mahatma Gandhi s daily prayer. Abhiroop Hiremath from class VIII and Aparahit S J from class IX spoke about these great leaders in the morning assembly and recalled their contribution to Indian freedom struggle. IEO was conducted on 06/10/2017. Mr Nilesh Lad, Mr Ashish Masih and Mr Pradip Parmar attended Run for Unity marking the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31 st October,2017 The school organised picnics at two different spots in October.

Class IV to VI -Juice Adventure Park, Mumbai Class VII to XII - Imagica, Pune (Scroll down to see the photos). The School hosted Indian a three-day International United Nations (IIMUN) Conference for the second time consecutively from 5 th to 7 th October, 2017. 105 students from five schools took part in this conference cum competition. Alok Public School, Silvassa Lions English School, Silvassa Hon. Sharad Pawar Public School, Nashik Laxmi Global School, Sarigam Shreerang Vidyalaya, Thane Laxmi Global School emerged as overall winner and bagged the Champion s trophy. Report Cards were distributed during the term end in PTMs on following dates Classes I to III on 13/10/2017 Classes IV to VIII on 14/10/2017 Classes IX and X on 11/10/2017 Book fair was organised by Scholastic Publishers in the school quadrangle for two days on 13 th and 14 th October, 2017 Our school came up with a very humble approach of fostering the sense of gratitude among today s children towards the supporting staff of the school. Under this initiative, the school observed 13 th October as Gratitude Day. The children generously contributed to gift our drivers, cleaners and all supporting staff members working in the school, on the occasion of Diwali celebration. The children were extremely pleased to honour them and also realised their importance in the smooth running of the school. Following Inter house competitions were conducted during the period. Our (U-19) Football team took part in CBSE West Zone Football cluster, held in Ankleshwar from 19 th to 22 nd September. Our (U-19) Volleyball team took part in CBSE West Zone Volleyball cluster, held in Om Shanti Om School, Rajkot from 24 th to 29 nd September ACHIEVEMENTS: Following students have been selected for the National Level from our school to represent DNH in different events and categories. Selected students from our school both in junior and senior sections took part and bagged attractive prizes. Krishnaraj Solanki 2 nd Prize Jaykumar Patel 3 rd Prize Khushi Singh from class IX, Nakeisha Kumar and Jay Khodbhaya from class VII bagged the Bronze Medals for special mention as delegates in IIMUN Interschool Conference held in our school from 5 th to 7 th October, 2017. They represented themselves as delegates of Switzerland and Brazil respectively. Pranav Sharma from class VIII and Kunal Agarwal from class X secured the 2 nd position in Interschool KAVI DARBAR (HINDI POETRY RECITATION) held in our school on 23 rd September, 2017.
