APPENDIX E Department Committees

Department of Agronomy Crop Soil and Environmental Sciences M E M O R A N D U M To: Faculty and Staff From: Craig. Beyrouty Date: September 12, 2008 Re: Agronomy Committee Membership for 2008-2009 Attached is the listing of departmental committee membership for faculty and staff. Although committee work takes time, this is the opportunity where faculty and staff truly impact the quality and direction of our programs and the environment in which we work. Departmental action occurs at the committee level. All committees should provide periodic reports at staff meetings to give faculty and staff updates of progress as well as recommendations requiring approval, some by the full staff, others by the faculty only. In addition to these committees, the extension, soil science, and crop science groups should consistently meet throughout the year to discuss issues such as enhancing professional collaborations within and external to Purdue, developing closer research and educational connections with stakeholders, prioritizing future hiring needs, participating in the University strategic plan, and improving educational opportunities for our undergraduate and graduate students. Your participation on these committees will help provide the creative ideas that will advance Purdue Agronomy to a level of preeminence. Thank you in advance for contributing to the department in this manner. ATTACHMENT
