COURSE REGISTRATION
MANDATORY FULL TIME STATUS PER SEMESTER BBA Minimum 4 courses 12 HEC credits MSc Minimum 3 courses 9 HEC credits
FIRST WEEK OF CLASS Attend all courses even the one on the waiting list Add, swap or drop courses Check your HEC en ligne regularly!
COURSE ON WAITING LIST You will automatically be registered to the course on the waiting list if it becomes available and the system allows it. The system does not allow to be registered to the course on the waiting list, when: Timetable clash with another registered course Cancel the course with the timetable clash Already registered to 5 business courses Cancel one of the registered course Registered to 4 or 5 business courses + 1 language course Contact us You will receive an email notifying that you have 72 hours to correct the situation to remain in 1st position on the waiting list and to get the place next time one becomes available.
ADD - SWAP - DROP HEC Montréal is strict about deadlines UNTIL January 19 AFTER January 19 Add / Drop / Swap Drop: Course will not appear on final transcript Swap: to change a course No adding nor swapping BETWEEN January 20 March 23 AFTER March 23 Drop Course will appear on your final transcript with the grade AB (Abandon = withdraw) No impact on your GPA Drop Course will appear on your final transcript with the grade F (Fail) Impact on your GPA

TEAMWORK & PERSONAL WORK Teamwork is important at HEC Montréal Ask for feedback from local teammates Most of them have been abroad and will be keen on helping you Reserve study rooms Maximum 4 hours per day Personal work outside of class 1 course = 3 credits = 3 hours in class per week + 6 hours of personal work out of class per week
EXAMS Mid-semester & Final exams Student ID card is mandatory Exams are NOT at the same time and place as regular classes Check HEC en ligne for the exact schedule and classroom No admission to the exam classroom if more than 45 minutes late No retakes Business courses in French Possibility to write exams in English (upon teacher s approval) Ask your teacher at the beginning of the semester Additional information will be sent before mid-semester exams

PLAGIARISM At HEC Montréal, academic integrity is one of the core values which the school reinforces strongly A zero tolerance policy is applied in case of plagiarism Examples Glancing at another student s exam Talking during exam Using prohibited documentation Failing to reference or quote a source Citing your sources Provides clear explanations on how to present references and quotations, and indicates how to cite electronic documents. Warning HEC Montréal Plagiarism policy may differ from the one at your home university
TO SUCCEED Attend all classes and exams (no retakes) Expect to invest many hours out of class Read all documentation before each course Don t be afraid to ask questions in class Inform your teachers and teammates that you are an exchange student
WEIGHTING SYSTEM TRANSCRIPT
WEIGHTING & GRADING SYSTEMS Each course has its own weighting system Mid-semester exam Class participation Quiz Individual or team assignment Final exam Grading system Overall GPA on 4.3 The mark range (% or else) is transferred into a grade (A+ to F) against the group average
FINAL TRANSCRIPT Sent directly to your home university mid-june It is not possible to receive a transcript with grades in percentage Grades conversion is to be confirmed by your home university Grades will be available on HEC en ligne by mid-may With great distinction ( Mention d excellence ) Must be enrolled in a minimum of 15 credits GPA of 3.5 over 4.3 for BBA students
