Post Graduate Programmes (PhD, MBA and Master s) The post graduate programmes at MSU are carefully crafted to cultivate leadership and a real research contribution that then address industrial hands-on challenges at the highest management level. PhD and Master s by research. Objectives: The programme is a full-time/part time course of study that seeks to achieve following objectives: To enable students to engage in advanced study and research with scholars in a variety of information fields, such as the economics of information, humancomputer interaction, library and information services, organisational issues, archives and records management, new systems architecture, digital libraries, information systems management, and digital documents/digital publishing. To foster original and scholarly research that contributes to all of these fields. To enable graduates to integrate their professional education and experience with the larger problems of the information professions. To provide conceptual frameworks of practice knowledge and approaches for business and management applications. To guide extensive familiarity with the literature of selective specialist applied areas within the business and management field. To inculcate an ability to link and integrate applied research to learning as a precursor to the formulation of vision, strategy and process leadership for corporate and business enterprise. To provide skills in applied research methodologies, including literature searches, field research design, data analysis and the communication of research findings. the Supervision. To reach these objectives, researchers/students in PhD, and Master programmes collaborate closely with one or more Faculty members, from start to finish, in their related fields of study. A student s primary supervisor is a key factor to success in graduate school. Upon admission to the school, each PhD, Master and MBA student is assigned a Faculty Supervisor.

A candidate admitted into a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) shall possess any of the following qualifications and must demonstrate an ability to carry out independent research: A Master's degree and Degree from any recognised university or an equivalent qualification from an institution as approved by the MSU- Senate; B. A candidate admitted into a Master programme shall possess any of the following qualifications and must demonstrate an ability to carry out independent research: A Degree from any recognised university or an equivalent qualification from an institution as approved by the MSU- Senate; C. The Graduate School Board may require a candidate to follow any programmes//courses/subjects taught at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, if the Graduate School Board is of the opinion that the subject is required for the candidate to complete his/her study successfully. D. In special cases, the Senate may be, on the recommendation of the Graduate School Board, permit a candidate of Doctor of Philosophy from another universities or institutions to be admitted as a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. E. In the case of a candidate admitted under the provisions of section D above, the Senate may, on the recommendation of the Graduate School Board, count in part or in full, the number of months the candidate has registered towards the minimum period of candidature of Doctor of Philosophy.

Duration of Candidature. MSU s MBA offers students an experiential learning experience in a cross-cultural communication setting, the opportunity to build a global network and the possibility to create future international career opportunities. In addition, students will have opportunities to develop management skills and techniques, to obtain strategic orientation and implement the strategies they formulate. The MSU-MBA programme helps leaders to develop the skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, strategic management and decision making, and trains them to become successful leaders in their area and an entrepreneurial thinker in the most competitive markets. Thinking-strategically sections, following the opening vignettes and cases, provide thought-provoking questions and exercises which sharpen student s problem-solving abilities. An Opening vignette is designed to illustrate the major issues found in each module with compelling real-world issues. MSU s GMC has established collaborative educational links with a number of top overseas universities in China, Korea, Japan, Russia, UK, Germany, the USA and others. The Postgraduate Student Exchange Programme is a means to provide international exposure to our postgraduate students. Through this programme, students will have the opportunity to develop an awareness and appreciation of other cultures, political and economic environments, and approaches to doing business.

MBA Program Structure Ten (10) Compulsory modules Four (4) Specialisation modules `Project Total 30 credits 12 credits 6 credits 48 credits Compulsory Modules (Each module is 3 credits) Accounting for Corporate Decisions & Evaluation Economics for Marketing Business Law & Ethics Financial Specialisation (Choose either one of the specialisations) Global Marketing Consumer Behaviour Global Marketing Sales E-commerce and Services Project Project Procurement Operations Quality Techniques Database Administration Islamic Banking and Finance Financial Econometrics Islamic Banking Islamic Finance International Financial Finance Financial Econometrics Finance Derivative Financial Market and Institution International Financial Project Students are required to choose topics relevant to their areas of specialisation and submit a proper proposal to the Programme Coordinator for approval. Each student will be assigned a supervisor who will guide participants throughout the implementation of the research project. Subsequently, the student is required to write a project paper of not less than 10,000 words, and to have it submitted for the proper evaluation processes.

Degree Program MBA Minimum Period Full time One (1) years Part time one and a half (18) Months. Maximum Period Full time - Three (3) years Part time - Five (5) years Annual Intakes March / July / November (Kindly refer to MSU for details) Application Procedures (Malaysian Students ) Application Forms can be obtained from MSU- during office hours. Your application must reach MSU at least two months prior to the commencement of each new intake. A completed Application Form must be submitted, together with the following documents, to the GSM: (1) Two copies- Certified true copies of the Master and Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent certificates, as approved by the Senate of MSU), including full academic results transcripts. (2) Two copies- A photocopy of the identity card (I/C), front & back. Or passport (all pages) (3) Two (2) copies of the Reference form to be filled in by two of the candidate's lecturers for those fresh from University/ without working experience. For those with working experience, Reference Forms should be completed by the immediate Superior and a lecturer/ or 2 Superiors at the workplace. (4) Two Photographs ( passport size). (5) Two copies of an updated CV. (6) Two copies of a Draft research proposal. (4) An Application Processing Fee of US$ 170 (non-refundable). If the application is successful, the MSU will send a Letter of Offer, A Fee Schedule, and other related documents to the successful applicants. Unsuccessful applicants will also be informed in writing. In order to accept the offer, applicants have to fill in the "Acceptance of Offer" form and all appendices and return them to MSU according to the date stipulated. Failure to confirm acceptance of the offer within the stipulated period may result in a withdrawal of the offer. How to Apply Step 1: Please read the Application Procedures carefully, fill in the Application Form & two Reference Forms and send it back to us, with all your supporting documents. Step 2: If you are accepted, we will send you a letter of offer with the details of Fees, Schedule and other related documents.

Step 3: To register, complete the registration form and fee slip. Return or send it back to MSU s GMC, along with the registration fee, plus the fees for the modules you will be taking at your first examination, to the GSM.
