Palomar College Public Safety Training Center Police Academy Application Packet **Module II ONLY** (Must have completed Module III to be eligible to apply) Academy Class 27 Applications may be submitted beginning on October 2, 2017 Application Deadline: Friday, January 5, 2018 at 5:00 PM Module II Start Date: Saturday, March 3, 2018 Disclaimer The Palomar College Police Academy makes absolutely no promises or guarantees of acceptance of any applicant. The college provides educational benefits and services to the community and applicable state and Federal law supersedes any statement or implication referenced herein. The college is not an insurer of its students or police recruits and accepts no responsibility for injuries or damages resulting from the participation by any student or recruit in the Police Academy training process. No policy, educational requirement, or physical requirement is intended to or in any way obviate or supersede the requirements of state and Federal laws. Start dates of any academy training program are at the discretion and approval of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Dear Potential Police Academy Recruit, We would like to thank you for your interest in the Police Academy at Palomar College. Our strenuous Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night (5:30 pm 10:30 pm) and Saturday (6:00 am 5:00 pm) extended format schedule offers those employed full time an alternative to preparing or transitioning into a career as a sworn law enforcement officer. Module II starts each year in early March. The academy is run in a paramilitary style, with students wearing uniforms and adhering to a high level of discipline and order. Students not complying with academy regulations are terminated from the program. Upon successful completion of Modules II and I of the program, students receive 35.5 units of college credit. The Palomar College Police Academy has dual accreditation with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (W.A.S.C.). Training is held at the Public Safety Training Center located at 182 Santar Place in San Marcos. Our program is a Modular Format. The program is designed to meet the needs of those aspiring to be full time peace officers, as well as Level III, Level II, or Level I reserve peace officers. The modules do not all have to be completed at one time. For example, one could complete Modules III and II, leave the program, and then return the next year to complete Module I. Also the modules do not need to be completed at the same training facility. A recruit could complete Modules III and II at another facility and then take Module I at Palomar College. All recruits will spend approximately $2100 on required uniforms, gear and equipment. Module II fees, to include the required uniforms, gear and equipment costs approximately $900. The student is responsible for budgeting this amount as a minimum and ensuring payment for tuition costs, material fees, uniforms, use of firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) fee, mandatory health and accident fees, Department of Justice fingerprint processing and parking permits. Some students may qualify for financial aid assistance. Module II 15 weeks 14 units Module I 25 weeks 21.5 units Begins 03/03/18 Begins 06/26/18 Students interested in the Police Academy must compete for a seat in the class. Agency-sponsored recruits are given priority for placement. All applicants must submit an application and pass the testing process. Please read this complete application packet, as it contains important information about the requirements of our program. If you have additional questions, please visit us on the web at www.palomar.edu/policeacademy or contact our Information Officer, Detective Barnes, by e-mail at policeacademy@palomar.edu. Good Luck, The Entire Staff at the Palomar College Police Academy
