While you are preparing for your study term here, you will find in MyESADE (ESADE intranet) important information to help your transition to ESADE and to Barcelona. You will have access to MyESADE by entering into the web site ww.esade.edu, clicking on intranet from the menu at the bottom of the page and entering your codes that ESADE will provide you shortly. In order to get a visa, all students must apply at the embassy or consulate in their home country at least 2 months ahead of time. LAW ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2015/16 Exchange students are encouraged to arrive earlier to secure accommodation prior to the start of the program. Students should arrive not later than the day before the first day of the term. IMPORTANT NOTE: Exchange students are requested to stay until the end of the scheduled exams. No special dates for exams to be arranged. Please pay attention to exam dates when booking any flights. Spanish Language course Term Dates including exams End of January February to June BUDDY SERVICE ESADE International Student Association (CIEE) offers a buddy service for exchange students. Their main aim is to help exchange students get used to their new academic, urban and social surroundings. CIEE organizes welcome parties, cultural trips and others. All incoming law exchange students that would like help settling into Barcelona and getting familiar with ESADE campus, please feel free to request a buddy to cieederecho@gmail.com ORIENTATION PROGRAM At the beginning of each semester, ESADE Law School organizes an orientation program for all new exchange students. Exchange students are strongly encouraged to participate in it and the final program will be available around June in MyESADE. Welcome Day: compulsory attendance. The ESADE LAW orientation program includes: Spanish language course with no cost for the student. The language online registration will be at the same time as the law courses online registration and through ESADE intranet. Please see the dates above. City tour around Barcelona with the International Relations team and the ESADE buddies. Welcome Day (compulsory): the first day of the term we organize a welcome session by the Law Faculty directors and International Relations Unit. We provide students with detailed information about registration procedures and courses. This session will also include an introduction to Barcelona and Spain, housing advice, Alumni Association and Library resources. Campus tour / Icebreaking event 2
MyESADE Please know you will find in MyESADE (ESADE intranet) ww.esade.edu relevant information as course offer and description, online course registration, dates for the Spanish Language free course, housing options, buddy service, International Student Handbook. Middle June most of the information will be available online. THEMIS Courses & Syllabus Law courses offered both at Master s level and 4 th year Grade. Language of Instruction Fall term: Spanish and English Spring term: Spanish. Spanish B2 CEFR certificate or equivalent required Credit system ECTS credit system. Full time Workload 30 ECTS per semester THEMIS students are required to register for 30 ECTS at ESADE. (10% variation allowed: minimum 27 ECTS and maximum 33 ECTS). Course Registration All registrations should be requested on-line only, through MyESADE at the dates set. Course registration should be quite the final one. Students will be able to request changes in September as long as there are vacancies in the requested course. Course Attendance Attendance is required in all courses. Students will be required to attend all courses registered for. WHERE STUDENTS SHOULD GO WHEN ARRIVING TO ESADE Once at ESADE Law School, law exchange students should report their arrival at the Registrar s Office (building 1, main entrance). Information students will be given by the Registrar s officer on arrival: Course schedule and final registration with a list of the courses students will be taking at ESADE. Students who were unable to register for any course for reasons of overcrowding/cancellation or who were enrolled on a waiting list should also check with the Registrar s Office to see if there have been any changes in their situation. Student mail box number, where all course material will be delivered and where you will pick up your Student identification card (which not only proves they are enrolled at ESADE, but also gives them access to the school library). The main building is located at the top of Avinguda Pedralbes (Building 1) on the right-hand side of the street if you are coming up from the centre of town.
