A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEADTEACHER WEEK ENDING: FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER 2017 ISSUE NUMBER: 239 YEAR 11 GOOD LUCK Our Year 11s began their Pre-Public Examinations this week and will be working hard revising and sitting examinations up until Christmas. We wish all of our students the very best of luck and will pray that they can find the strength to persevere through this challenge. When we return after Christmas, we will be able to share the results with the girls and know what each student needs in order to make the best possible progress towards the final examinations in the Summer, COMMUNITY TEA PARTY Today we hosted our annual Christmas tea party for the elderly members of our local community. The Year 7 girls prepared and served refreshments. They also provided some entertainment with their music and drama performances. Christmas is a time for families and communities to be together and this event is always a lovely occasion. Well done girls. SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT FOR PARENTS THROUGH DIGITAL PARENTING MAGAZINE It is always difficult for parents to keep up with the changes in social media, gaming and other online activities. The Vodafone Foundation has produced a free magazine called Digital Parenting. The link below will take you to the latest issue and you are also able to read the previous 5 issues. I would strongly recommend that you take the time to read this. It is 47 pages and it may be worth saving it on your desktop or printing it off and returning to it to ensure you get the chance to read all of the information. Our children live in a digital world and experience a childhood and teenage years where communications and entertainment are vastly different to what their parents and teachers know. In order to protect and support them, we need to understand the dangers as well as the benefits of the digital world. http://www.vodafone.com/content/digital-parenting/learning-and-fun/digital-parenting-magazine.html# GOD BLESS MRS CONNOLLY B LESSING Advent is the season in which Christians must rekindle in their hearts the hope that they will be able to, with God s help, renew the world. Pope Benedict XVI These words from Pope Benedict XVI remind us of the importance of the Advent season. Looking forward to the coming of Christ reminds us how he transforms the world. And we hope to renew the world to reflect God's kingdom here on earth. We pray especially for all God's children who are seeking refuge. P RAYER Come Lord Jesus Maranatha! Open our ears to hear your word. Open our eyes to see you in one another. Open our hearts to your call to live generously and to let our light shine. Open our arms to reach out in welcome and love. Come Lord Jesus Maranatha! Amen. 1

Don t want? Then Donate! Please can parents or carers donate any unwanted school blazers or jumpers to the school reception. There may be a time when a student has lost or misplaced a blazer and may not have the financial means to get a blazer in a timely manner. Please help and pass on any blazer or jumper that you feel is in a good enough condition to be used temporarily by a student in need. It would also be helpful if you can donate skirts or blouses that are in good condition also. We are really short of blazers in a size 36 inch, if you think you could help us out and donate this size blazer please get in touch with us! 13
