The department also organized many refresher courses, Winter School training/ workshops of UGC- Academic Staff College and workshops in the areas of Economics, Micro Finance, Awareness workshops on Commodity Derivative Markets and ICSSR Capacity Building Programme on Research Methodology for University and College teachers. Academic Achievements 1. Created a State Planning Commission Chair on Decentralized Planning and Micro Economic Governance in the Department with the support from State Planning Commission, Madhya Pradesh. 2. Member, Expert Panel for Reviving Regional Commodities Exchange appointed by Forward Marketing Commission, Govt. of India 3. Working on a Major Research Project sponsored by ICSSR on Study of Climate Change and Agriculture in the Catchment Area of Chambal River since 1 st April,2012 4. Able to fetch financial support from UGC under Special Assistance Program at DRS Phase III for the department after successful completion of its first and second phases in 2014. 5. The department is identified under the UGC scheme of Centre with Potential for excellence under XII plan (2016-20210 on the theme of Inclusive Growth and sustainability in the Tribal Area 6. Mobilized financial support from Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India and Forward Markets Commission, Mumbai for organizing awareness workshops, seminar and other activities. 7. Organized Refresher courses, winter-school of UGC-Academic Staff College and workshops in Economics, Micro Finance and Research Methodology and Economics and Policy for University and College teachers. 8. Indian Economic Policies An eloquent public speaker and delivered several keynote addresses in various national and international seminars, conferences and special lectures on Research Methodology, Indian Economic Policy Issues, and Environmental Economics as well as on Econometrics; several of which were part of live telecast programmes on UGC EDUSAT Gyanvani Channel Awarded with the Best Professor in Economics by World Education Congress(2013) for Global Awards for Excellence in Education, Leadership and Teaching in economics Regularly covered by print and electronic media for expert opinion on major economic events such as Union Budget, State Budget, Economic and social policy issues and their implications. Research Interest Published more than 50 research papers in reputed international and national journals and inculcated a research culture at School of Economics. Mobilized financial and advisory support from UGC under its flagship scheme of Special Assistance Programme (UGC-SAP) since 2004 and successfully coordinated and completed first and second phase of Departmental Research Support (DRS) and is now working on third phase of DRS since April 2015. The key objective of this initiative has been a policy oriented research towards environmental issues of development and poverty for the region of Madhya Pradesh. Published 09 books and monographs on issues pertaining to Natural Resources Management, Development and Climate Change, Trade liberalization and Indian economy which has helped in boosting the research environment in the department enabling participation of almost all faculty members in several sponsored research projects. Established a Chair on Microeconomic Governance in the department with the Financial and Administrative support from Madhya Pradesh State Planning Commission since April 2013.This has helped the department in participating in many activities at grass root level to make the rural development of the region sustainable. Pioneering work in the areas of Rural Development, Development Dynamics of Madhya Pradesh, Environmental issues of Chambal Dam and carried out a number of sponsored research studies on evaluation of IRDP, climate change and agriculture, evaluation of water harvesting systems and marketing strategies in Small Scale Industries.
