POSITIVELY MAD Adding value to your school or college 1

EXAM BUSTERS Preparing for exam proficiency 2 sessions of 2½ hours for up to 150 students per session. (Years 9-13) This course is for year groups who need to prepare more efficiently for the exam experience. Offering useful advice on time management, revision cycles and memory improvement. Exam Busters helps students to get into the right mental state to prepare for exams, illustrating various principles of revision to demonstrate how memory works. This is ideal for all students who need to cope more effectively with the stress of exams. SUPER SPEED STUDY SKILLS Developing Efficient Learning Methods 2 sessions of 2½ hours for up to 150 students per session. (Years 9-13) This course empowers whole year groups with fun and effective learning tools to make the process of studying faster and more enjoyable. It is a fast-paced and highly practical seminar which shows students how to use efficient and highly enjoyable learning techniques. Mind mapping and speed reading are just two of the tools introduced during this session. This is ideal for groups who need to study quicker and more efficiently. 2

MASTERING STUDENT MOTIVATION Developing intrinsic motivation skills 2 sessions of 2½ hours for up to 150 students. (Years 9-13) This is a dynamic and engaging seminar which introduces young people to the concept of personal responsibility. We demonstrate to students how to take a proactive approach to life rather than just react to their existing circumstances. We introduce students to one of the most simple, yet powerful, models in personal development: State Behaviour - Results. This seminar actively promotes the concept of self-reflection as a tool to personal improvement. Ideal for all students needing to develop a strong inner drive. BRIDGING THE GAP Aiding transition from KS4 - KS5 2 sessions of 2 hours for up to 100 students per session. (Year 12 & 13) This workshop empowers students to meet the increased demands of sixth form life. It encourages independent learning and personal responsibility and provides students with an impressive range of advanced study and research skills including, critical writing, creative note-taking, interrogating sources, and reasoning. Focussing on both mind-set and skill-set this workshop equips students with the toolkit they need to maximise their potential in KS5 and beyond. 3

AIMING HIGHER Changing limiting beliefs is the platform for raising student aspirations 2 sessions of 2½ hour session for up to 150 students. (Years 9-13) This seminar empowers students to make their aspirations a reality. The Aiming Higher seminar is a truly inspirational and engaging experience which inspires students to reach meaningful, self-set goals. We motivate individuals to believe in themselves through the use of powerful life-coaching skills and personal development techniques. The seminar is ideal for all students needing to set more tangible and attainable goals for their personal, sporting, and academic lives. 4

MIND MAPPING Enabling Students to master this incredible learning tool 2 sessions of 2 hours for up to 100 students per session. (years 8-13) Our Mind Mapping workshop explores all of the fundamental concepts behind this amazing technique including, chunking, key wording and imagery. By looking at the brain, memory, and how they work together, participants experience the benefits of mind mapping and its many applications. The workshop aims to build confidence in the use of the technique and also in the skill of using creativity as an aid to memory. During the workshop students will be given the opportunity to develop their own mind maps. We explore various uses of mind mapping from note taking to revision. Participants will leave the workshop with a clear understanding of how to utilise mind maps in a range of situations. 5

HOOKS, LINES + THINKERS : Science A GCSE revision session A two hour workshop for a maximum of 30 students. Our unique curriculum-specific Science workshop is an intuitive, creative and highly enjoyable experience for students on the C/D borderline in years 9, 10 and 11. This 2 hour workshop allows students to experience the effectiveness of 6 fun learning tools and shows how to apply them to the Science curriculum. Using memory improvement techniques to prepare more efficiently for GCSE exams, the students are motivated to remember over 80 facts without rote learning or needing to make traditional notes. Combining humour and entertainment, the Hooks, Lines and Thinkers Science course consistently delights students across the country, showing them how powerful their imaginations are at helping them to learn in new, fun ways. HOOKS, LINES + THINKERS : English A GCSE revision session A two hour workshop for a maximum of 30 students. Positively MAD is proud to present an innovative, entertaining and highly effective student workshop designed to help students on the C/D borderline to improve their performance in English. This workshop is highly interactive, great fun, and show students how to use different learning tools to help them remember facts and skills when preparing for the English GCSEs. The workshop begins with an hour which focuses on basic skills like spelling, punctuation, reading strategies and paragraph guidance tips. During the second hour of the two-hour workshop, we focus on: Arguing and Persuading during which students learn how to plan arguments better and how to use a mnemonic to remember different persuasive strategies. 6

CATCH UP WITH LITERACY & NUMERACY Give your students a real boost Catch up with LITERACY & NUMERACY are individual empowering and engaging programmes developed specifically for Year 7 students who have not achieved level 4 in either subject. Fun and effective, these programmes take a fresh look at ways to inspire students of all abilities and help improve their self-esteem while teaching vital literacy and numeracy skills. With your support, our intervention gives students the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and to achieve maths and english targets that they previously believed were beyond them. Held in the classroom, or venue of your choice, each programme costs 595.00 excluding VAT, (plus travel and accommodation), for groups of up to 30 students. 7

THE 6S STUDY SKILLS SYSTEM Raising achievement through reflective practice A 5 hour programme for up to 30 students. Package includes all student resources and a presenter training pack for the school. (Years 9-13) This course consists of 5 one-hour workshops that show students how to avoid cram studying by regularly reviewing and reflecting on their learning. It introduces them to a system that enables them to experiment with a range of highly effective learning tools, while encouraging them to reflect on their lifestyle choices in order to make healthy changes to support exam success. During the course, the students experience and reflect upon the effectiveness of 10 different learning tools, targeting a range of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning styles. Students are also shown how to avoid cram studying by using Positively MAD s unique Regular Review Process. 8

EMPLOYABLE YOU Communication is the key to personal and career success One day session can be flexible to suit your timetable. Qualifications are essential but, alone, they are not enough to guarantee success. Learning how to communicate who you are, what you believe in and what you have to offer is a vital skill without which you cannot progress to the next level. Employable You shares the art of excellent communication with students preparing them for the world of interviews: work experience, college, university and employment. 9

CRASH COURSE IN ACCELERATED LEARNING Creating a Learn 2 Learn environment 2 sessions of 2 hours, (flexible), for all of your teachers. Our teacher training course looks at all aspects of accelerated learning. The course covers many techniques for memory and the theory behind them. Participants have a chance to explore and experience the techniques and build on ideas for use within the classroom. We also look into study plans for students and ideas to aid with goal setting and motivation. This exciting interactive course provides the participants with lots of practical ideas for immediate use for both themselves and within the classroom. 10

TEACHING TO REMEMBER Memory techniques for teachers 2 sessions of 2.5 hours, (flexible), for all your teachers. The Teaching to Remember INSET is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to learn how to improve their own memories whilst experiencing the effectiveness of powerful learning-to-learn techniques. This whole day, in-school training course is a multi-sensory, multi-media experience: highly interactive and packed with pupil-friendly, creative and hugely effective tools, tips, strategies, and methods.in addition to being highly practical, this course is an entertaining, empowering and highly creative learning experience. Ideal for schools whose staff would like a creative boost and would like to incorporate memory-improvement techniques into their teaching. During the course teachers will discover how powerful their own memories are, experience many practical ideas to make learning fun, rewarding and memorable and be empowered with a range of learning to learn techniques. The course has two main aims; to make teachers feel more confident in their own ability to remember things and to provide teachers with instantly usable techniques. 11
