We are excited to announce you will now be able to pay most school related fees on-line. Registration fees, activity cards, yearbook purchases, plus many other expenses can be paid from your home computer, cell phone, iphone, etc. You may be familiar with this system if you have high school students within our district. We hope that you will want to take advantage of this time saving service. Here s how: 1. Using your computer at home login to www.myschoolfees.com. 2. Select [REGISTER] and register with MySchoolFees as a User. Select your student s school and enter your student s ID. 3. Select [REGISTRATION FEES] to pay specific class fees. Your student s fees will be listed. 4. Select [OTHER FEES] to pay fees such as sports participation fees, activity cards, yearbooks, etc. 5. Note there will be fees charged to this service. Class fees must be paid before other fees can be purchased and you will receive an immediate receipt by e-mail. You can bring in the receipt during registration days as proof of payment to pick up your students schedule. Please note If you have special needs for paying fees, such as partial payments, you will not be able to complete the payment portion of the registration process through this on-line service. You will need to call the school after August 5 th to speak with a counselor or myself about special arrangement payment plans. This online payment service should be available around August 10 th. Notes from Nurse Sue The following immunizations are required for all students entering 7 th grade (in addition to current requirements) 1 Tdap 1 Meningococcal Please review your student s immunization status with your physician to ensure that your student will meet the school immunization requirements. PARENTS MUST PROVIDE THE SCHOOL WITH RECORD OF NEW IMMUNIZATIONS for students to enter 7 th grade. Plan ahead as some doctor s offices have a waiting period. Students will not be allowed to register in the fall for 7 th grade (August 14 th ) without proof of these immunizations. If you have a child new to Lake Hazel Middle School, you can access health forms and medication forms on our website. Go to www.meridianschools.org; go to the Parent link; go to nursing services and you will find information on forms and immunizations required for entry to the Meridian School District. You will need to bring your immunizations record with you to registration. If you have any questions, please contact me, Sue McDonald, RN at 855-4375. I will be back in the office Thursday, August 13, 2014

PACE: Important Info for All 8 th Graders and Their Parents PACE (Performance Assessment of Critical Elements) is a requirement for every eighth grade student, so we are encouraging you to be proactive and informed on the steps and expectations of this project. PACE will be conducted through both Science and English classes, as it is based on planning and conducting a science experiment and presenting the results in a written report and oral presentation. Our PACE work covers much of the school year. First quarter will focus on foundations, including the scientific method and experiments, an introduction to the science fields, and the Big 6 Research method. Second quarter will focus on conducting the experiment, completing the initial lab report, doing background research, and creating a draft of the formal report. Third quarter will focus on completion of the formal report and preparation of the oral presentation, which will be given mid-april. The LHMS science and English teachers will do all they can to help each and every student successfully complete their PACE projects! While much of the work will be completed in school, some steps will be done at home. We would like you to help stress the importance of this project, help your child stay up to date on deadlines of various steps, and support him/her in making this a genuine learning experience. We will be sharing more specifics of the project in the fall. Mrs. Carrie Nolan Science Department Chairman Mrs. Kimberly Schafer English Department Chairman LHMS is a part of the Box Tops for Education program. Look for the Box Tops for Education logo on items you most likely purchase every day in the cereal, frozen food and even paper products departments at your grocery store. Each logo is worth.10 for LHMS. It may not seem like much but if we all take the time to clip those logos and send them to the LHMS office for collection, it quickly adds up to money for our school. Over the last several years, parent, student and teacher efforts have resulted in several thousand dollars. Please take the time to add funding to your student s educational experience.
