As you can see from the length of this newsletter we have been incredibly busy! The children of St John s have settled into their classes and are making us very proud of their achievements. I am writing today, during our first whole school celebration of learning event and must thank you for the unbelievable range of home learning that was brought into school today to share. All members of staff were asked to give out a home learning award certificate and it was an almost impossible task! The talent, imagination, hard work and care that was evident in their shared pieces was credit to the fantastic support you all provide with your children s learning. Thank you. Please see the school website for some photos. Harvest Service Thank you to all of you who attended the recent Harvest Service and for your generous donations to Wimborne Food Bank. 32.50 was collected which will also support Wimborne Food bank. Jeans for Genes Day As you are aware, we recently supported Jeans for Genes Day, which is the annual fundraising campaign for Genetic Disorders UK, the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder. A magnificent 135.00 was raised by your donations; thank you for your support. Parking We would reiterate to parents the need to respect our neighbours by parking considerately when dropping off and collecting your children. Please do not block driveways or park in the surrounding private roads. At no time should vehicles be parked on the yellow markings directly outside the school or on the bus stop as this represents a significant hazard. Your support is appreciated. Staff changes We say goodbye to Ms Tamsin King, who is leaving us at October half-term to pursue new opportunities. We wish her well for the future. We welcome Miss Lauren Pudwell to the Year 3 team. Lauren will be familiar to some families as she already works alongside Mrs Ali Selby in our Breakfast Club. Marvellous Me At the end of September, we introduced Marvellous Me to keep you informed of your child s activities and achievements at school. The feedback from families has been very positive, with over 75% already signed up to the app. There is a unique log-in code for each child, so if you wish to register and have mislaid your log-in details, please contact the school office. Wimborne Academy Trust News I would like to share with you the Wimborne Academy Trust vision, which will be used to inform our own school s vision. Wimborne Academy Trust is a forward-looking trust that provides creative and innovative learning opportunities, nurturing every pupil as an individual. We value excellence in learning, collaboration, respect, compassion for others and a sense of community. Our pupils love learning, are confident, resilient and achieve their potential. They are prepared to be life-long learners and responsible citizens with a global perspective. Wimborne Academy Trust core values are Excellence, Collaboration & Respect. Liz West, CEO of Wimborne Academy Trust, alongside John Dickson, the new Chair of Trustees for the Trust will be undertaking a range of visits next week and after half term to the school. This is an invaluable part of our Trust structure to ensure that we are working together to ensure the very best outcomes for all children and staff. We will have a focus on attendance as well as teaching and learning. As a Trust we are developing a coaching approach to improve Teaching & Learning. This approach will encourage staff to reflect upon their own practice and professional development.. Coaching ambassadors have been appointed within each school and have already attended Trust wide training. Church School Audit Last week Neil Revell, from Salisbury Diocese, came to school for the day to conduct a church school audit. This is an opportunity for the school to review the strengths and areas to develop in relation to being a church school. I am delighted to inform you that the day went exceedingly welcome with Neil revel recognising how our Christian values are deeply embedded within the ethos of the school and the outstanding standard of RE teaching in the school. Thank you to the families that came to speak to Neil. After-School Clubs There are still spaces available in Dance Club [Monday Yrs R-4], Tennis Club [Wednesday Yrs 1-4] and Sparkle & Shine drama club [Thursday Yrs R-2.]
