Below, you will find instructions on what you need to do next. Accepting the offer of admission The study place can be accepted either by returning the Confirmation Form or electronically in the Studyinfo.fi portal. Log into My Studyinfo service from the top of the page and follow the instructions on how to accept the study offer. The study offer must be accepted by 29 May 2015 3 pm (GMT +2) at the latest. If you miss this deadline, you will lose your place of study. Electronic identification is required for the log in. Identification is carried out using the Citizen's online authentication and payment service. If you want to accept the study place by returning the filled confirmation form, please send it to: School of Science Student Services P.O. After sending the form by email or fax, please also send the original, even though it might arrive after the deadline. Apply for accommodation There is a lot of competition for student apartments in the metropolitan area at the moment. Submit your application for housing immediately. Please see the Housing info for degree students information sheet for further instructions. Applications with incomplete Bachelor s degree If you have applied with an incomplete Bachelor s degree or equivalent studies, you have to complete your degree by 31 July 2015. Please remember to submit an officially certified copy of your degree diploma and transcript of records by 7 August 2015 at 3:00 p.m. (Finnish time) to: Admission Services P.O. The Student Union fee must be paid when you are enrolling as attending. Enrolling as attending is done via OILI service, which you will find by logging in to the Studyinfo.fi portal and going to My Studyinfo / My applications. Please enroll by 14 August 2015 at the latest. Enrollment should be done as soon as possible. According to the Universities Act, new students lose their right to study if they have not enrolled by the end of the enrollment period, 14 September 2015. If you cannot enroll via OILI service, it is also possible enroll by showing the receipt of the Student Union fee payment at the Student Services office. Delaying the start of your studies According to the Universities Act, a first-year student may register as absent for the academic year only for the following reasons: service under the Conscription Act, Non-Military Service Act or Act on Women s Voluntary Military Service maternity, paternity or parental leave if the student cannot begin studies due to being incapacitated by personal illness or injury An application for registering as absent for the first academic year and the instructions on how to fill in the application are available on the School s website. The application and the documents proving the legal grounds for the absence should be delivered to the School s Student Service Office by 21 August 2015. Applying for the Student card The student card is your means to prove that you're a student in Finland in all situations necessary. With the card, you can access all benefits of your own student group, such as national student deals (e.g. train and bus discounts, student-priced meals, Finnish Student Health Service). In addition, you will gain access to all of Frank's (a student s own discount service) national and global deals. The discounts are granted from 1 August 2015 on. Orientation week and start of your studies Checklist for new students Your studies will start with an orientation week in the first week of September. We strongly recommend that you arrive in to the capital area on Monday, 31 August at latest, in order to have enough time to make all arrangements. We will send you more information about the orientation by email in the end of August. The orientation week is very important, as you will receive essential information about studying at. 1. Accept the offer of admission 29 May 2015 at 3.00 p.m. at the latest. 2. Non-EU/EEA-citizens: Apply for residence permit. 3. Apply for accommodation. 4. EU citizens: Book an appointment with the police to register your residence. 5. If you have applied with an incomplete degree: Submit an officially certified copy of your Bachelor s degree certificate (or the degree certificate of equivalent studies) by 7 August 2015 at 3.00 p.m. at the latest. 6. Arrive in Finland on 31 August 2015 at the latest. 7. Enroll as a student at the Student Services office (Computer Science Building, Konemiehentie 2, room A225, Espoo). Please remember to bring your original degree certificate and transcript of records (even if you have sent certified copies earlier).
