Available Positions: Applications are being accepted for all positions. 2. Required Application Materials: New applicants must submit an application with all three recommendation forms (Church Leader Recommendation, General Recommendation, and RA Recommendation). The General Recommendation form may not be done by family or Boyce faculty. 3. Off-Campus Applicants: Applicants who live off-campus do not need to submit an RA Recommendation. 4. Re-Applying: Current student leaders wishing to re-apply for the same position must submit a brief re-application but no recommendation forms. Current student leaders seeking to re-apply but change positions must submit a full application, recommendations, and interview. 5. Interviews: All students applying for an RA, Student Council, or Ambassador position must sign up for an interview. ARA-only applicants should not sign up for an interview. Applicants for the RA position must get explicit RD permission to sign up for an interview. 6. Probation: Students currently on academic or student probation may not apply for student leadership. 7. Church Membership: Student Life will confirm church membership and GPA for all applicants.

RA and ARA applicants should be willing to serve on any hall, though we aim to maintain hall continuity where possible. RA Job Description RA Job Description A Resident Advisor (RA) is a member of the Student Life Staff, working under the direct supervision of the Resident Director (RD) and the overall supervision of the Director of Student Life. The RA serves as a peer leader among the students on a given hall for the entire academic school year. This involves a commitment to influence others in a way consistent with the goals of the Student Life Department of Boyce College. The RA should display a daily commitment to encouraging and influencing fellow students, through both example and speech, in their personal relationship with God and their relationships with others. While the RA ministry does involve administration and enforcement of institutional policies, the primary role of the RA is to be intentionally investing in fellow students for the purposes of sanctification and growth. RA Qualifications 1. Must have a clear Christian testimony and exhibit a maturing and growing relationship with Christ. 2. Must be a member in good standing or equivalent in a local church. 3. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 when considered for the position and maintain at least a 2.5 to remain in the position. 4. Must remain a full-time Boyce College student for the entirety of the coming academic year. 5. Must commit to serve for both semesters of the coming academic year. 6. Must be able to participate in both Student Leadership training times (FA/SP) and orientations. 7. Must live in adherence to the Boyce College policies as outlined in the Student Handbook and be able to graciously enforce them. 8. Must be able to maintain a significant level of confidentiality and discretion. RA Time Commitment 1. Faithful RA ministry will typically entail approximately 15 hours a week. Of these 15 hours, 5-6 hours will be in weekly meetings, 1-2 hours in administration, and the remainder spent doing interpersonal ministry. 2. RAs will arrive one week prior to new student orientation for the Student Leadership Retreat during both Fall and Spring semesters. RAs will remain on campus through the end of both finals weeks to assist in checking students out. 3. RAs are limited to 15 hours per week of employment outside the RA ministry, with evening work strongly discouraged. The schedule for this outside employment must be approved by the RD prior to finalization. The RA position should be regarded as a priority commitment.

Boyce College 2016-2017 3 RA Essential Duties The RA should promote a healthy dorm community by cultivating meaningful relationships and spiritual unity on the halls and encouraging students to follow school policies and respect the dorm facilities. This requires a commitment to pursue, care for, counsel, serve, and lead those on the hall, as well as enforcing policies and doing administration to help the dorm community to function effectively. Administration: 1. Faithfully carry out any administrative tasks including, but not limited to, room checks, office hours, maintaining records for curfew and sign-outs, and general dorm supervision. 2. Assist in the opening and closing of the residence hall. 3. Take ownership and responsibility for physical needs on hall (damages, cleanliness, work requests). Leadership/Oversight/Care: 1. Cultivate biblical community on the hall by pursuing and encouraging fellow students. 2. Be available to fellow students on the hall by maintaining a general presence on the hall. 3. Meet with your ARA(s) every week, either individually or as a group, for mutual encouragement and strategizing how to best lead and serve the hall. 4. Work together with your brother/sister RA to design hall events. 5. Contact the RD in case of an emergency or an unaccounted-for student. Discipleship & Training: 1. Faithfully attend and participate in the weekly RA Meeting (all RAs). 2. Participate in the weekly dorm RA meeting (gender-based) led by the RD. 3. Meet individually with the RD on a weekly basis for mentoring and guidance. 4. Attend CPR / First Aid training in August or confirm current certification. 5. Graciously approach and exhort students when their behavior opposes Scripture or violates the Handbook. General: 1. Complete all summer preparation assignments by the time specified. 2. Participate in all RA Retreats, Student Leadership Retreats, Orientations, and Student Life events. 3. Faithfully attend all dorm meetings. 4. Remain on the school meal plan and eat most meals in the Cafeteria. 5. Be absent from campus no more than eight nights each semester, not including Thanksgiving Break, Spring Break, or Easter Break, or any school-related activities (e.g., retreats, service projects, etc.). RA Compensation 1. RAs receive the monetary equivalent of 6 credit hours per semester at the SBC rate. This is taxable income disbursed in 4 monthly payments each semester through SBTS payroll. 2. RAs are provided housing for both Fall and Spring semesters (winter and summer break not included). 3. RAs are not provided with a meal plan. 4. RAs receive attendance at Student Leadership Retreats and all required Student Life events.

Support the RA personally, including but not limited to the following: (a) asking how to help with any area of their life, whether personally or directly related to their RA ministry; (b) seeking to encourage the RA in their responsibilities and opportunities on the hall; (c) demonstrating an attitude of teamwork and helpfulness. 4. Meet every week with the RA for encouragement and strategizing how to best lead and serve the hall.

Boyce College 2016-2017 5 Community Building and Service: 1. Influence others toward Christ-likeness by exemplifying increasingly godly attitudes, speech, and actions. 2. Cultivate authentic spiritual friendships on the hall that grow in reflecting the biblical one-another s, purposefully keeping in mind individuals that the RA has not been able to reach. 3. Observe and meet physical and spiritual needs of the students on your hall. 4. Engage fully (through participation and promotion) in all hall activities and services. Discipleship & Training: 1. Boyce College 2016-2017 6 Student Council Job Descriptions Student Council Mission & Purpose The mission of the Boyce Student Council is to cultivate biblical community at Boyce College by pursuing spiritual relationships with fellow students and providing a variety of events, activities, programs, outreaches, and services to enliven, encourage, and mobilize the Boyce community. Student Council Leadership & Team The seven-member Student Council works directly under the President who is overseen by the Activities Coordinator (Sarah Sherwood). The Student Council ultimately falls under the leadership of the Director of Student Life (Gunner Gundersen). We are looking for a strong team of Christ-centered, spiritually-minded, relationally-oriented, administratively-capable, idea-generating, fun-loving servants who are eager to participate in a unified group that strives to invigorate the Boyce community. Student Council Male/Female Positions The Student Council comprises a balanced blend of male and female students in order to fully represent the interests of the student body. All Student Council positions are open to both male and female students, except for President. This position is open to males only due to responsibilities in spiritual leadership and occasional teaching. Although Boyce is not a local church or a marriage, our heart is to accurately reflect the biblical roles and responsibilities of men and women in all of our structures and positions, and to prepare students to fill leadership roles appropriately in future churches. Student Council Job Descriptions by Position President (1) The President serves the student body as their leading representative. The President works closely with the Activities Coordinator and the Director of Student Life to set the vision and direction for the year. He will lead weekly Student Council meetings and guide all Coordinators to establish vision, implement ideas, and accomplish logistics for each event. The President is also expected to personally care for and pray for Student Council members. The President must be able to lead, communicate, organize, administrate, and mobilize a team. He must be a spiritually mature student who is respectable and followable. Campus Event Coordinator (2) The Campus Event Coordinator serves as the lead planner for campus activities and traditions such as the Back-to-School Bash, Hall Ball, Fall Party, Coffeehouse Poetry Night, Big Show, Boyce Talks, Spring Banquet, and more. The Campus Event Coordinator will work closely with the President and Campus Event Assistants. The entire Student Council will assist in orchestrating each event, but the Campus Event Coordinator is the lead planner for these events. The Campus Event Coordinator will also lead in brainstorming about new events for the enjoyment and fellowship of the student body. Campus Event Assistant (4) The Campus Event Assistant will work closely with the Campus Event Coordinator to brainstorm, plan, and orchestrate campus events. The Campus Event Assistant also will be given primary oversight for several specific events, to be determined in partnership with the Campus Event Coordinator. Communications Coordinator (1) The Communications Coordinator will promote and communicate Student Council events and ministries to the student body. The Communications Coordinator does not have to be personally gifted in each of the following media, but will be responsible to head up promotions using the website, Facebook, Twitter, posters, videos, emails, and announcements.

Boyce College 2016-2017 7 The Communications Coordinator may help develop a small volunteer team of freelance photographers, videographers, and graphic artists to assist in promoting events and community life at Boyce. Student Council Qualifications 1. Must have a clear Christian testimony and exhibit a maturing and growing relationship with Christ. 2. Must be a full-time Boyce College student and must commit to serve for both fall and spring semesters. 3. Must be a member in good standing or equivalent in a local church. 4. Must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA when applying, and must maintain a 2.5 GPA while serving. 5. Must follow Boyce College policies as outlined in the Student Handbook. 6. Must be reliable, administratively capable, detail-oriented, and punctual. 7. Must be able and eager to function well within a team. Student Council Time Commitment 1. Faithful Student Council ministry involves 12-15 hours per week. Some weeks may require more hours due to intensive planning or multiple events. 2. Members must attend all Student Life and Student Council activities unless specifically excused. 3. Student Council members are not restricted in the number of off-campus employment hours they may work; however, their schedules should be arranged so that they can adequately fulfill their Council responsibilities, including attendance at events. Student Council Compensation 1. The President will receive a tuition scholarship of two Boyce classes at the SBC rate per semester. 2. The other six Student Council members will receive a tuition scholarship of $1,200 per semester. 3. Leadership training and personal development. 4. Free admission to all required Student Life activities. 5. Paid attendance at Student Leadership Retreats.
