Class of 2018 and 2019 students and families: Counselor Updates This fall, Bloomfield Hills High School will be assisting students in using a new electronic college fair information tool called Go To College Fairs (www.gotocollegefairs.com). This service is used by colleges around the country as a new, technologically advanced way to collect contact information of interested students. This program is intended to make the college fair circuit easier and more efficient for students and college representatives. Students receive a barcode that is scanned by the college rep as way to collect contact information of prospective students. This allows colleges to share information with students regarding programs, events, visits, and other information in a more efficient manner. Instead of filling out paper forms and postcards, college reps simply scan the student s barcode and have all of the information needed to track a student s interest and add them to their contact list. See the attached letter for opt-out instructions Saginaw Valley State University Bus Trip for Juniors The BHHS Counseling Department is sponsoring a college visit to Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, October 20 (Odd Day). The SVSU Bus Trip will include a presentation by the Admissions Office, a walking campus tour and a free lunch sponsored by the Admissions Office. BHHS juniors attending this trip will be required to pay $5.00 towards the transportation to Saginaw Valley and lunch will be provided by the University. Interested juniors should see Mrs. Brack in the counseling office to pick up a permission slip. There are limited spots available, the first 40 junior students to return their permission slips to Mrs. Brack with $5.00 will be able to attend. The last date to submit your permission slip is October 13. Counselors will be chaperoning students attending the trip. Buses will depart BHHS at 7:00 am and return to BHHS by 2:30 pm. Students do not have to be solely interested in Saginaw Valley State University. The admissions presentation will provide another point of reference for high school students beginning the college selection process. Class of 2019 Juniors There will be a junior class meeting on September 19, 2017. Important college planning information will be provided by the counselors. Class of 2018 Seniors There was a senior class meeting on September 7, 2017. Counselors reviewed with seniors the college application process and each senior received an envelope with the following; a copy of the student s transcript to review, Senior Class Meeting Notes, transcript request forms to have transcripts sent to colleges, and teacher recommendation forms. See attached Senior Meeting Notes from the September 7 meeting.
