East Junior High Newsletter Kevin Yeske Principal November 2017 Patti Ritchay Associate Principal Keep Kids Warm Program WRPS is hosting the annual Keep Kids Warm event. The event helps provide winter clothing for children in need. NEW THIS YEAR: Instead of one district-wide distribution event, each school will be notifying families on how to receive the winter gear that they need. In October, all students took the Mental Health Screener. Those results are now available. If you would like a copy of your student s results, please contact their counselor. If your student is in need of winter clothing, please contact your school counselor to arrange a pick-up time. Just a reminder that the first trimester grading period ends November 30th. Grades recorded as of this date will become part of the permanent academic record for students. This impacts our Freshman the most since credits earned this year apply to earning a Lincoln High School diploma three years from now. With approximately three weeks remaining this trimester, it is important for students to continue to work on obtaining the academic goals established for them. It is not too late for scores just below passing to be raised to earn credit but realize that this will take additional time and effort on the part of the students for this to occur. Please continue to provide support, encouragement, and conversations with your children as they work to achieve academic success. With the start of a new trimester on December 4th, ALL students will start with a clean academic record. All students will have new classes starting and the day will have the feel of the first day of school again. It is important to recognize that this fresh start means that no first trimester grades carry over and work done beginning with this day will all be part of the second trimester grades. If you have any photos of East sporting events, please email them to Ms. Olivarez (marti.olivarez@wrps.net) or Mr. Lynch (james.lynch@wrps.net) for possible yearbook submission. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Olivarez or Mr. Lynch. Cold season is here! Thank you to those that have donated Kleenex to EJH. Our classrooms and offices are in need of more tissues. Please consider donating if you are able. Donations may be dropped off in the office. Thank you! Working together with home and community, we are dedicated to providing the best education for every student, enabling each to be a thoughtful, responsible contributor to a changing world.
