Mission Statement The Lakeview High School Athletics Hall of Fame was created to recognize the individual athletes or teams who have earned honors and achieved excellence in athletic competition. Athletes, teams, coaches, athletic trainers, or other individuals associated with athletics may be nominated for the Award. COMMITTEE A. The Lakeview Athletics Hall of Fame Committee is hereby established and referred to in this Constitution as the Hall of Fame Committee or committee. B. The Selection Committee shall be headed by the High School Principal of Student Activities/Athletics and be comprised of the following: High School Principal of Student Activities/Athletics Athletic Director 1 member of the School Board Athletic Committee 1 Boys Athletic Coach * 1 Girls Athletic Coach * 2 Lakeview School District Alumni or Community Members * * Coach and Alumni/Community Members shall be appointed with recommendation from the High School Principal of Student Activities/Athletics, Athletic Director, and the member of the School Board Athletic Committee C. The committee will meet 2-3 times each Fall with the first meeting in September and subsequent meetings in October and November at the discretion of the committee. NOMINATION FOR MEMBERSHIP A. The committee will solicit written nominations for selection to the Athletic Hall of Fame and select a list of not less than three (3) nominees for membership into the Hall of Fame. B. Alumni, committee members, community members, school administration, school employees, and/or Lakeview School Board members may submit nomination forms to the committee. C. Nominations may be made on a continuous year-round basis. D. An individual athlete may be selected at any time beginning ten (10) years after the graduation date of their class. E. A coach, athletic trainer, or individual (non-student athlete) may be selected at any time beginning five (5) years after their resignation or retirement from that sport. F. A team may be selected at any time beginning ten (10) years after the season for which recognized. G. The list of nominees will be delivered to the Athletic Director by November 15 for presentation to the committee at the November meeting. H. The Athletic Director will prepare and deliver to the remainder of the committee the nomination forms for each individual or team. This will be distributed at the November meeting.
ELECTION OF MEMBERS A. The Hall of Fame Committee will annually select the individuals or teams for enshrinement at the November meeting. B. In order to be elected for membership into the Hall of Fame, a nominee must be selected by five (5) of the seven (7) committee members. C. The committee may complete up to three (3) rounds of balloting to elect new members. D. A maximum of three (3) individuals or teams will be enshrined each year. E. A candidate for the Hall of Fame who is nominated will be considered for up to five (5) years. If after the 5th year the individual or team is not selected, they will be removed from the pool of nominees and given no further consideration for election. SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP A. Any Lakeview High School athlete or coach who has been elected to a national athletic hall of fame will be elected without nomination. B. Any Lakeview High School athlete or coach who is a participant in an athletic event in the International Olympic Games will be elected without nomination. C. Any Lakeview High School athlete or team winning a PIAA championship or achieving selection to an All-State team will be presented before the committee automatically for selection. The normal five-year rule (see ELECTION OF MEMBERS, part E) will not apply for these nominees. AMENDMENTS A. Any amendments to this Constitution must be proposed in writing and submitted to the Hall of Fame Committee for consideration at least two weeks prior to any scheduled meeting. Committee members may present amendments at a meeting for consideration at the next meeting. B. Proposed amendments will become effective upon the approval of at least five (5) of the members of the Hall of Fame Committee.
